How to get rid of window condensation: Effective hack is ‘cheaper’ than using heating

As the weather cools, some Brits may wake up to drops of water, also known as condensation, on the inside of their windows. Condensation can cause mold on windows and window frames, which can be uncomfortable and unhealthy.

Luckily, fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, aka Sophie Hinchliffe, have shared her tips for getting rid of condensation.

Ms. Hinch is a lifestyle and cleaning influencer with more than 4.5 million followers on Instagram.

Inspired by her hacks, fans of her have created their own Facebook pages where she can share cleaning tips and recommendations.

In a social media group, Facebook user Nicole Shearing asked, “How can I prevent so much condensation?

“We have it on both bedroom windows, they get soaked every morning!

“We wash the windows every day and crack the windows and have these moisture absorbers, any tip is welcome!”

The post was inundated with more than 100 responses from Mrs. Hinch fans, but the most common suggestion was to use a dehumidifier.

Karen Jane Train replied: “You can buy dehumidifiers in many sizes. I would start with one in a hallway or landing and see if he cleans it.

“But if you have moisture in every room, are you sure it’s not a structural problem? If your roof or walls aren’t waterproof, a dehumidifier won’t solve the problem.”

Jessica Conroy commented, “Invest in a dehumidifier. Unfortunately, this happens to most houses in the winter months.”

Lisa Allsop said: “Try not to have big temperature differences from day to night and invest in a good dehumidifier. I have the electric Q One for a three to five bedroom home and you will be surprised at how much it uses even when set low. My problem has been solved.”

Eileen Cullwick said, “I bought a dehumidifier and was surprised at how much water it collected.”
