Open the Settings app and tap Siri & Search.
Now toggle on the switch for one of the following items on your screen depending on how you want to interact with Siri. You can also enable both options based on your preferences.
- Listen to “Hey Siri”: This allows you to interact with Siri without having to unlock your iPhone or press a button.
- Press the side button for Siri: This is how you can activate Siri by holding down the sleep/wake button on your iPhone.
Beat Activate Siri at the bottom of the screen when prompted to confirm your choice.
If you have enabled the switch for Listen to “Hey Siri” then you will be prompted to set it up. Beat Continue at the bottom of the screen.

Activate the switch for Allow Siri when locked if you want to use Siri while your iPhone is locked.

Now go back to the previous page and tap Siri Answers.
Under Select one of the following options SPOKEN ANSWERS Depending on what you want, Siri should answer you.
- Automatically: Siri chooses when to speak based on your request.
- Prefer Spoken Answers: Siri speaks whenever possible, even when silent mode is on.
Activate the switch for Always show Siri subtitles if you want to view written transcripts of Siri’s responses.
Turn on as well Always show language if you want to view a transcript of your requests and responses.
Now go back to the previous page and tap hang up call if you want to use “Hey Siri” to hang up phone and Facetime calls.
Activate the switch at the top of your screen.
Now go back and tap announce calls if you want Siri to read the caller’s name and contact information.
Tap and select a preferred call announcement scenario from the choices on your screen.
Now go back to the previous screen and tap announce notifications if you want Siri to announce incoming notifications on your iPhone.
Activate the switch for announce notifications above.
turn on headphones if you want Siri to announce notifications when wearing supported headphones. These headphones include Airpods 2nd generation and up, and Beats Solo Pro and up.
turn on Answer without confirmation if you want to use Siri to reply to messages but don’t want to confirm your message before sending it.
Now tap and choose an app for which you want Siri to announce notifications.

Go back to Siri & Search page and tap my information. This lets you assign your contact to Siri so she can respond and interact with you appropriately.
