Jeff Carlson wants you to get the most out of your smartphone’s built-in camera app and has put together this guide on PopPhoto to help you get started. You’ll learn how to quickly launch the camera, use the volume button to trigger the shutter, quickly adjust exposure, focus, zoom and camera modes, and more in iOS 16 and Android 13.

As with any camera – smartphone or traditional – there are numerous features to help you get the best shot. Be sure to explore the app settings and the other buttons (such as setting the self-timer or changing the default aspect ratio) so that when the time comes, you know exactly which smartphone camera feature to use.
