Two steps to build a boat in Minecraft

In the early version of Minecraft, you can only craft one type of boat with any wood variant – an oak boat. But after the Minecraft 1.8.2 update, 5 new boats were introduced into the game, matching all the wood types that were current at the time. (Birch, Spruce, Jungle, Acacia and Dark Oak)

By the time you are reading this article, Minecraft 1.19 has already come out, so another new type of boat is introduced – a mangrove boat. Which can be crafted from the same wood name in the new biome. Let’s see how to build a boat in just 2 steps!

#1 Collect 5 planks (any kind of wood)

To clarify, it takes 5 wooden planks of the same type to craft the corresponding type of boat. For example, if you want to craft a mangrove boat, you need to cut down at least 2 mangrove trunks. Then craft 8 Mangrove Boards from the logs.

Besides cutting down trees, there is another way to get planks in Minecraft. Generated structures like mineshafts, villages, forest mansions, shipwrecks and some more can contain many planks as part of their structure.

Despite the fact that there are 2 other types of wood in the Nether dimension, Crimson and Warped. You can’t use them to build a boat in Minecraft!

#2 Build a boat

Once you have the planks, collect a few more to craft a crafting table. Then drop it and right-click on it. Finally, place the planks and follow the recipe below to craft a boat.
