How to Make a Campfire in Minecraft

Four steps to make a campfire in Minecraft

#1 Collect 3 sticks

Sticks can be easily crafted from any 2 wooden planks or 2 bamboos. But the best way to get sticks in Minecraft is to cut down trees and make planks out of them.

There are many other ways to get sticks in Minecraft, such as fishing, killing witches, breaking leaves and dead bushes, or looting villagers’ chests. Of the 4, hunting witches and breaking leaves is the second best way to get sticks.

#2 Gain 1 Coal/Charcoal

You can get coal by mining coal ores in the mountains or under caves. With a non-silk touch pickaxe, the coal ores will directly drop coal. When mining with a Silk Touch pickaxe, Coal or Deep Shale Coal Ore Block will drop instead. Putting them in a furnace to smelt them into charcoal is another option.

Most generated structures in Minecraft can have a fairly high chance of containing 1 and up to 15 coal per chest. Killing wither skeletons and crafting out of coal blocks are other ways to get coal in Minecraft. But remember that the wither skeletons are super dangerous!

If you can’t find coal, try melting wood or logs in the furnace to get charcoal instead.

#3 Collect 3 logs/wood/chopped log/chopped wood

From 9 types of wood (oak, birch, spruce, jungle, dark oak, acacia, mangrove, crimson and warped) in the game and their 4 variants (log, wood, peeled log and peeled wood) you can collect any 3 blocks of the same type, to build a campfire.

You can get logs by cutting down trees. For gutted logs, simply use an ax and right click on the log.

For wood, you can craft it by placing 4 logs in a 2×2 shape. And peeled wood can be obtained using the same process as logs.

#4 Build a campfire

When you have 3 sticks, 3 wood-related blocks, and either 1 coal or charcoal, right-click on the crafting table and follow the recipe below to craft 1 campfire.

Alternatively, you can find bonfires that form naturally in the taiga villages and the ancient cities. In addition, fishing villagers have a high chance of selling a campfire for 2-5 emeralds.
