How to navigate the Forgotten Nightmares update
Blizzard’s financially successful mobile game Diablo Immortal has provided players with the most comprehensive update yet. The Forgotten Nightmares update expands on the story and Diablo’s ongoing lore, while adding new features and mechanics to ensure the game’s grindfest doesn’t get boring. However, as a new player approaching Diablo Immortal it’s easy to get lost in the woods, so we’ve created a guide that breaks down what’s new, what’s changed, and the best approaches to take advantage of this colossal update, once you have it installed. It’s time to load up the app, plug in your favorite Android gaming controller, and see how the latest Diablo Immortal update fares.
New story-filled dungeon: Silent Monastery
Your stop for Diablo lore, upon entering the Silent Monastery, you will revisit the story of the Zakarum Crusades through the lands of Ivgorod. Diablo Immortal’s newest dungeon, Silent Monastery, sets the nightmare tone, plunging into darkness so menacingly that it shrouds the peaks of Mount Zavail to Sentinel’s Watch in a black mist. Only the most vicious demons dwell in the mists, ready to prey on the souls of the innocent who have invaded this land, so it’s up to you to stop the soul-devouring demons that lurk cowardly in the shadows.
To access Silent Monastery you must be level 60+ and form a party of 2-4 players. note: The dungeon has a dark interior, making it difficult to see where you are going and what you are fighting. To navigate through the darkness, you must light your way by interacting with the temple’s statues.
Update and changes to warbands
It’s no secret that the number of new players has been declining since launch, making it more of a hassle to fill warbands with content. Many players have expressed frustration with the dependency on filling the Warbands slots to address the restrictive content. This new update sheds light on some of those concerns, so we’ve provided an overview of the overhauled systems.
- Removed the requirement to kill monsters for Warband Camp.
- Complete Warband Reliquary Raids with four Warband players instead of eight; You can now recruit players outside of your warband to fill the remaining slots.
- There is now a 400% increased drop rate for Warband Sealed Chests after completing Warband Reliquary Raids for the first time (resets every Monday and Thursday).
- Introduction to Castle Cyrangar (replaces Warband camps).
Cyrangar Castle
A new Warband exploration experience brings two repeatable game modes and passive bonuses earned by upgrading and defending the castle. To start the quest you must be level 20 and be part of a warband. Obtain the quest by speaking to Valstus in Westmarch.
You must divide and conquer every major area in Castle Cyrangar while confronting the restless spirits that embody each room. Once you and your warband have cleared the castle rooms, you can hang your warband banner and let the members occupy and upgrade those rooms.
After successfully conquering Castle Cyrangar, you will unlock two playable modes (Standard mode and Endless mode) to defend your stronghold. If you’re no stranger to Overwatch, this plays out similarly to Junkenstein’s Revenge, where you must survive against an onslaught of enemies coming your way each round. You’ll get sweet rewards like Ancestral Weapons and Invocation Gear that can trigger your Ancestral Weapon effects.
Gloomguide’s Prize takes swooping to the next level
A new set makes way for Diablo Immortal, Gloomguide’s Prize. Players can be more aggressive with enemy hordes by dealing more damage with dashes and escape moves. All drop locations have been adjusted to accommodate the new set, including the new dungeon (Silent Monastery).
The two-piece bonus increases damage by 15% (for 3 seconds) after using a dash, the four-piece bonus increases critical hit rate by 22.5% (for 3 seconds) after using a dash, while the six-piece set bonus unleashes a terror wave after using a dash that damages all nearby enemies, affected enemies are struck with Fear (occurs every 40 seconds).
