What is Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition?

The Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition, slated for release in early November to mark the launch of the latest installments in the widely acclaimed monster collection series, is pretty much what it sounds like – a Nintendo Switch OLED limited edition set all about it theme game. The Special Edition console will retail for $359.

The Nintendo Switch OLED Scarlet & Violet Edition features two unique Joy-Con controllers, one red and the other purple, and both are adorned with custom Pokemon Scarlet & Violet graphics. Also, the back of the main switch unit is wrapped in a Pokemon sticker that shows the trio of starter Pokemon you have to choose from at the beginning of the game. The included docking station also includes images of the new Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon.

Quite bizarrely, the console doesn’t come with a copy of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. While this is an odd decision, Nintendo has made it in the past. Neither Splatoon 3 nor Animal Crossing New Horizons switches came with copies of their respective games. So if you also want to play the latest Pokemon game and we can’t imagine that nobody cares about this console, you’ll have to buy a copy separately.

Aside from its new cosmetic look, this is the same awesome Nintendo Switch OLED console that was first released in October 2021. You get all the improvements of the OLED model, including the larger 7-inch OLED screen, wider adjustable stand, and updated dock with an Ethernet port and 64GB of internal storage. Like its predecessor, the Switch OLED is designed for gaming in handheld or TV mode and is the perfect system for gaming on the go.
