How to remove a background in Photoshop
Once you know how to remove a background in Photoshop, all sorts of options are open to you. This is a really useful skill that allows you to seamlessly stitch images together or create graphics and logos that won’t stick to a blank square canvas.
Photoshop can seem quite inscrutable to those unfamiliar with it, and with so many features, it can be easy to forget even if you’re a regular user. But it’s some of the best photo editing software available, so it pays to be familiar with it and master some of its most useful features. Luckily, removing a background in Photoshop is quick and easy, provided you know where to look.
Once you’ve learned how to remove a background, you can play with adding a new one. You could include family members in vacation pictures, turn the cityscape into one at the beach, or maybe have a friend walk a tightrope across the Grand Canyon. Just make sure to use your new powers for good!
Note: There are numerous ways to remove a background in Photoshop. We like this as it’s the easiest and fastest way and works with lots of images. However, it does not work in all situations and you may need to seek additional help from adobe.com (opens in new tab) if that’s the case.
How to remove a background in Photoshop
before we start Make sure you’re using the same workspace as usto make your screen look like ours! In order to do this, Open Photoshop and click window in the top toolbar. then Hover over workspace and Choose Essentials (Default).
1. Drag an image into Photoshop then load it look in the layers panel, bottom right. when you see “Layer [x]”, Next to step 2. when you see “Background”, Click Level in the top toolbar, choose Newthen choose level from the background.
Why? You need to make sure you’re working on a layer and not the background. Many images like JPEGs are loaded as a background layer, which is not technically a layer and cannot be edited with as much freedom as a layer.
2. In the Layers panelmake sure you have selected in the bottom right Layer where you want to remove the background. Here we only have one layer, but you can have more than one layer if you are working with multiple image files or have already added a background photo.
3. Click Characteristics in the right field, then click Fast Actions and Choose Remove Background.
4. Use the brush and eraser Tools to clean up the leftovers of the image. Erase stray pixels or Use the healing brush to remove unwanted items or mix the picture.
5. If you want to add a background, Drag another image onto the canvas. You may notice that it appears on top of the original image in the Layers panel.
6. Drag the original image layer over the new image layer.
now flatten and save the imageor further edit and make your picture more interesting.
