How to remove Facebook posts from your feed without also losing all of your friends

Sure, Facebook can be a great way to connect and stay in touch with family and friends. But more often than not, it’s a headache that, thanks to News Feed, can become toxic. Whether it’s fake news, envious vacation snaps from a classmate you barely know, or a relative’s startling political post, there are some things that are better left unseen. It’s true that you could unfollow a Page if you stopped seeing these types of posts, but there’s no exactly unfollowing your uncle or a close friend without potentially jeopardizing those relationships.

Luckily there is a way to bypass it. Turns out you can customize your Facebook feed so you don’t have to see their posts without having to unfriend someone. There are a number of ways to do this, whether you just want to hide a single post or hide all of a person’s posts indefinitely. We’ll walk you through your options here.

How to remove unwanted Facebook posts by customizing your feed

  • First, log in to your Facebook profile. From your feed, click the three dots near the top-right corner of the post you want to remove.

  • A small menu will open, giving you several options:

A menu will appear allowing you to hide, reschedule, or unfollow posts.

  • If you just want to hide this one post, click Hide post.
  • However, if you want to temporarily hide all of that person’s posts, you can choose to do that as well slumber [Name] for 30 days.
  • Alternatively, you can just click for a longer term solution unfollow [Name]. You will not see any posts from this page, person or group. However, you’ll still be friends with and follow that person, Page, or group.

And that’s it! As a side note, if you don’t want to remove the profile’s posts entirely, but just want to see less of them, tapping might be a good idea favourites. This will prioritize the posts from people and Pages you want to see more of in your feed. You may still see the posts you don’t want to see, but it probably won’t be that often.

How to reconnect to a profile whose posts you’ve hidden

Don’t worry: if you ever want to snooze or follow someone back, Facebook also gives you a number of ways to do so. One of them is customizing your feed.

  • click on your profile picture in the upper right corner and select Settings & Privacy.

Under Settings & Privacy, click Feed.

You should now see a menu with a number of options.

After you select Feed, you’ll see options to undo a snooze, track profiles, and more.

  • If you want to turn off the snooze, just click on it slumber and then tap blue clock next to the profile, Page, or group. Once you do this it should turn black.

Click the clock next to the profile to turn off the snooze feature.

  • If you want to follow someone again, click on them Reconnect.
  • Choose the Black storage box icon next to the person, Page, or group name. It should turn blue afterwards.

Click the black tray icon to follow the profile again.

And voila! You are done. The next time you come across a relative’s pathetic, definitely politically incorrect Facebook post, you can just hit snooze. If you’re ready, you can always undo it – and no one will suspect anything.
