How to share a Book of Mormon from your phone

A talk at general conference on Saturday was about sharing physical copies of the Book of Mormon.

Elder Ronald A. Rasband briefly noted that the Book of Mormon can also be shared through a mobile app, but in his footnotes he went digital.

“You can share it from your mobile phone,” he wrote, according to the text of his speech made available to journalists about this morning’s session. “One way is to open the Gospel Library app, go to the Scriptures collection, then tap Share Now at the top.”

After the evening session, I walked back to the Deseret News offices from the conference center and checked it out with my (super!) friendly newsletter editor, Ginny Romney.

In fact, at the top of the Gospel Library app is a handy box with a clear “Share Now” button. Lickety split, I squeezed it then dropped it to Ginny. She accepted, and her phone offered her the Book of Mormon app, complete with all of the scriptures, new videos the Church is producing, and more.

There is another way, Elder Rasband said.

“…You can tap the Share icon in the Book of Mormon app, which displays a digital code that a friend can just scan with their phone.”
