How to unlock Anarchy Battle ranked in Splatoon 3

With turn 3 out in the wild and players taking to the grass to make a name for themselves, the new elements of the game are what most people will focus on.

But just because there’s plenty of shiny and new things to see, there are some key returning bits that players also absolutely need to know – with one of the main tidbits being access to various multiplayer content.

Just like previous games, most Splatoon 3 Content is available from the start and there are no limits preventing you from jumping straight into multiplayer matches or opting for the solo campaign instead.

One of the few exceptions is the lack of an out-of-the-box ranked mode.

This remains locked for players just getting into the game for the first time, however, depending on your experience with the splatoon Franchises actually give you access a little quicker than newcomers.

What are Anarchy Battles? Splatoon 3?

Instead of the returning ranked mode turn 3 replaces it with Anarchy Battles.

These battles can last up to five minutes and feature the usual four modes – Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker and Clam Blitz.

The main difference is that the ranking system is different and players can also choose to compete in an Anarchy Battle Series, or a mode where players can essentially gamble their ranking points to bet on their ability, five games win in a row without losing three and potentially move up or down the leaderboard faster depending on the result.

Ranks initially max out in the S+0 to S+50 range, although this will likely change in future updates after the game has been out for a reasonable amount of time, just like the How splatoon 2 Ranked mode has been handled.

How to play Anarchy Battles in Splatoon 3?

The simple answer is to just play turn 3 A little bit.

Anarchy Battles is automatically unlocked for all players who reach level 10 in the game, which can be achieved by playing regular multiplayer games.

This is exactly the same method Nintendo used to limit early access to ranked matchmaking and ensure it doesn’t get overwhelmed by completely new players in both of the previous games.

However, anyone who has saved data can opt out turn 2including leaderboard history, gain access to Anarchy Battles in turn 3 at level 2 instead of level 10. This makes it very easy for experienced players to skip the hassle of playing in the regular lobbies and climb the ranks almost immediately.
