How to Unlock Ariel in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Ariel is known as the little mermaid who once lost her voice to walk on land. Now she finds herself on a strange island with no memory of how she got there. As hard as she tries to escape, she can’t find her way back to the Dreamlight Valley that was once her home.
In this guide we are going to talk about how to unlock Ariel in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Requirements to unlock Ariel
To unlock Ariel you must first complete the first story quests until you can unlock Dazzle Beach. On the southeast side of the beach, near the pillar and the skull rock, you’ll find a mysterious paddle and a broken raft. The picking up of the shovel will begin”The mysterious wreck” Search with Goofy.
It will also help if the Glade of Confidence and Forest of Valor are unlocked as some of the materials needed can be obtained from these areas.
How to unlock Ariel in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Unlike some other unlockable characters, Ariel doesn’t have her own realm but is instead stuck on a faraway island accessible via the raft. That’s why we need Goofy’s help to fix the broken raft on the beach. This guide starts with picking up the mysterious paddle.
Step 1: Give the Mystery Paddle to Goofy
Talk to Goofy and give him the mysterious paddle and he will also talk about the broken raft on the beach. He offers his help in repairing the raft, but he will need your help to gather the necessary materials to repair it.
Step 2: Gather the Materials
There are several materials you need to collect:
- x30 Hardwood – can be obtained by picking up the sticks around the trees in the Forest of Valor or Glade of Faith, or by breaking stumps with an upgraded shovel
- x7 Rope – can be obtained by crafting 8 Pieces of Fiber per Piece of Rope
- x25 Clay – can be obtained by digging the muddy earth around the ponds in Glade of Trust
- x10 Iron Ingots – can be crafted from 5 pieces of Iron Ore per ingot
For the crafted materials you will need the following raw materials:
- x12 Algae >>> x60 Fiber
- x50 Iron Ore – can be mined in areas from the Forest of Valor
Step 3: Craft the raft repair kit and use it on the raft
Go to a crafting station and craft the Raft Repair Kit in the Functional Items category. Go to the raft and use the repair kit on it. Goofy will then arrive to fix the raft and once it’s done you can use it to sail to the island Ariel is on.
Step 5: Set sail and talk to Ariel
Use the raft to get to the island where you will meet Ariel. Talk to her and she will ask for your help to leave the island and return to the valley to search for Eric. She will also ask you to place her house near the beach.
At this point, Ariel will already come down to the valley with you even before she puts down her house. Just talk to her again to complete the quest. For the house, find a spot on the water where you want to place it, then use Scrooge’s shield to have it built for 5,000 coins.

After Ariel settles into the village, you can build your friendship with her through her quests. You can also assign her any of the five roles once you reach Friendship Level 2 with her.
One of their friendship quests will result in unlocking Eric, who can then be invited to live in the village.
