Getting started with Google Primers
Google Primer has an attractive, user-friendly interface and plenty of features to explore. It’s easy to get started with the app and learn your first online course. The steps are pretty easy to follow, and here’s how to get started:
1. Sign up for the platform
The first step is to sign up for the app. After downloading and opening the app, you will be prompted to continue with your Google account. Click on Continue to go to the next screen. Then the app will ask for your destination. You can select your desired destination to continue.
Finally, select the skills you want to learn in the app to set up your profile. By default, Google Primer selects some skills for you. However, you can add any you want to add. Once set up, you can also go to the primer settings at any time if you wish to change your skills.
2. Navigate through your dashboard
After setting up your account you will be taken to your dashboard where you will find three tabs:Home, Discover and Saved Here you can start a new course, explore new courses, and track your progress.
On the home you will find the courses recommended for you and the history of the last course you took. Tap and click on the hamburger icon in the top left corner of the screen settings Icon to change your skills, manage your app, notifications and more.
You can tap yours profile icon in the upper-right corner to switch your Google account and sign in to your other profile.
3. Explore to find your desired course
To find your desired course, you can select one of the recommended courses on the home tab or explore the featured mini-courses on the Discover tab and select to view all courses. You can also type your desired course in the search bar at the top of the screen.
Also, tap the hamburger icon to cycle through the available categories. Select any category to see a list of mini-courses to learn.
4. Start your first online course in the app
Now that you’ve explored the courses and selected your desired course, it’s time to start learning on Google Primer. Each mini-course has a short description and lesson overview to give you an idea of the course.
When selecting your course, tap beginning Button. The screen will display swipe cards for you to read. You can swipe right to view the next card and swipe up to view the previous card.
You can check the progress of the course at the top of the screen. You can pin the map to save it for later. At the end of each lesson, the app gives you an exercise or quiz on what you’ve learned so far.
However, you can skip the activity and continue your course. Also, you can share your lesson or map with others by tapping the share icon in the top right corner of the screen.
5. Track your course progress
On the home tab you can see the last course and its progress. To know more details, you can go to Saved Tab that shows your pinned cards from the courses and bonus content unlocked after completing lessons. It also shows you your ongoing and completed courses where you can track all activities.
6. Post-course review
With Google Primer you can get a summary of each completed lesson. On the Saved tab that Closed Section contains a summary of the completed lesson. It contains the key learnings of the completed lesson and the bonus content you achieved afterwards.
The summary is useful so that you can review your courses or lessons at any time after completing your course. The bonus content typically includes webinars related to your course, which you can view on Grow with Google. All you have to do is register to watch the on-demand video and get more out of your completed course.
