After a successful preliminary round, in which the team went unbeaten in four games, Canada are now focusing on the knockout rounds, where they first face a quarter-final appointment against Switzerland.

Canada ran through Group A relatively easily. The team prevailed against their opponents 27:7, most recently with a 6:3 victory over Finland. Mason McTavish and his 13 points led the way as the Canada captain finished the group stage with the most points and goals (seven) of the tournament so far.

Behind McTavish is 2023 draft star Connor Bedard, who has seven points in the team’s first four games. Ridly Greig, Joshua Roy, Brennan Othmann and Olen Zellweger are all in the quarterfinals with six points.

Switzerland defeated Austria in their last group stage match to secure fourth place in Group B. Atillio Biasca scored a goal on the power play, leaving 4:15 in regulation time to lead the Swiss to a 3-2 victory.

The team previously lost to Sweden 3-2, USA 7-1 and Germany 3-2. Biasca leads the team with four points while Dario Allenpach, Joshua Fahrni and Fabian Ritzmann have three points each.
