What you should know

The Washington Commanders are at home on Sunday, but with a 6.5 point margin against them, it may not quite be the welcome they would prefer. The Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles will go head-to-head in an NFC East bout at 1:00 p.m. ET at FedEx Field. Washington lost both games to Philadelphia by 17:27 and 16:20 last season, so they hope to turn the tables this season.

Washington came up short last Sunday with 36:27 against the Detroit Lions. Despite the loss, Washington pulled off a solid performance from QB Carson Wentz, who passed for three TDs and 337 yards on 46 tries. Wentz landed with a passer rating of 143.90.

Meanwhile, if you finish by 222 yards more than your opponent, as Philadelphia did last Monday, a favorable outcome is almost certain. They sauntered past the Minnesota Vikings in points, winning the contest 24-7. Philadelphia’s offense checked out after the first half but still had enough points to win the matchup. Philadelphia QB Jalen Hurts threw it as he went on 31 tries for a TD and 333 yards, plus rushed for two TDs and 57 yards. Topping the highlight reel was Hurts’ 53-yard TD bombshell on WR Quez Watkins in the second quarter.

Philadelphia’s win increased them to 2-0, while Washington’s loss dropped them to 1-1. We’ll see if the Eagles’ success continues or if the Commanders are able to steal their positive momentum.
