What you should know – Notre Dame: After ending a season-best three-game winning streak last week, Notre Dame is looking to strike back against the Rebels this week. The offensive only scored 14 points against Stanford, and if they want to get back on track this week, Drew Pyne needs to be closer to the 72% passer he was in three games than the 48% quarterback he had in the Stanford loss. The running game also needs to get going after being held to just 150 yards by a 207 play-allowed defense. Irish defensive tackle Jayson Adelilola and corner backs Jaden Mickey are both “questionable” to play this week, per head coach Markus Freiman. Freshman tight end Eli Raidon will be out for the rest of the season after tearing his cruciate ligament this week.
What you should know – UNLV: The UNLV basketball team is known as the “Runnin’ Rebels,” but the soccer team is simply called the “Rebels.” They are managed by the third-year head coach Mark Arroyo. He was 2-16 his first two seasons (only six games in Covid-shortened 2020) but started this year 3-1. UNLV has its last two games against San Jose State and Air Force with a combined score of 82 -14 lost. Rebel quarterback Doug Brumfield was eliminated from the Air Force game with a concussion. The double threat left-hander sophomore is not allowed to play on Saturday. If he can’t go, UNLV will likely turn to last year’s Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, Cameron Frielwho is less mobile than Brumfield.
