How to Watch Philadelphia Phillies at Washington Nationals Game Four Sunday: TV Channel, Streaming Links
Despite a devastating loss to the Washington Nationals on Saturday afternoon, the Philadelphia Phillies extended their lead in the NL wild card race with an 8-2 win in the evening portion of the doubleheader.
The Phillies now have a full game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers for the last wild card spot. They also hold the tiebreaker which gives them an extra cushion towards the end of the season. If Philadelphia can win just two of their remaining four games, Milwaukee would need to win to surpass them overall.
The easiest way for the Phillies to go 2-2 is to win the final game of the Nationals on Sunday and then win a final series game against Houston. If they lose Sunday afternoon’s contest in Washington, they would need to win two out of three games against powerhouse Astros.
Beating the Nationals shouldn’t be that hard (it sure is is not as hard as Washingtonians say it is), especially with Zack Wheeler taking the bump. The biggest hurdle will be the weather, which could lead to a game postponement. In such an event, the two teams may have to reschedule their last game to Thursday, which could have disastrous consequences for the Phillies. Not only would Philadelphia lose a valuable rest day before the start of the postseason, but if this afternoon’s game is postponed, Wheeler’s start will be pushed back a day and he will no longer compete for Game One of the Wild Card Series.
At this point, we can only hope the rain lasts long enough for the Phillies and Nationals to get an official game.
