The New Orleans Saints home stand continues as they prepare to face the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 9 at 1:00 p.m. ET at the Caesars Superdome. Seattle should still be feeling good after a win while the Saints will look to get back into the winning column.
It was close but no cigar for New Orleans when they lost 28-25 to the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. No one had outstanding play on offense for New Orleans, but they did pick up points from QB Taysom Hill, WR Chris Olave and RB Latavius Murray.
Speaking of close games, Seattle certainly made it a thrill, but they managed to walk away with a 48-45 win over the Detroit Lions last Sunday. Seattle’s RB Rashaad Penny was on fire, rushing for 17 carries on two TDs and 151 yards. This marked the first time Penny had accumulated more than 100 rushing yards all year. Penny’s sharp performance also elevated his single-game rushing touchdown for the season.
Special teams accumulated 12 points for the Seahawks. K Jason Myers started in two field goals, the longest being a 56-yarder in the second quarter, which ultimately made the difference in the matchup.
The Saints are the favorites in this game, with an expected 5.5 point lead to the win. But bettors beware: they are 0-2 against the spread when favored.
New Orleans is now 1-3 while Seattle sits at 2-2. A few defensive numbers to keep an eye on before kickoff: New Orleans ranks second in the league for passing touchdowns, with just three on the season. Less enviably, the Seahawks are the second-worst yards per game in the NFL, averaging 428. So the cards are definitely stacked against Seattle.
