The Periphery Based on the 2014 book of the same name William Gibson. Set in the future, the show follows the lives of Flynne Fisher and her brother Burton. Flynn and Burton play VR games for rich people to earn some extra money to pay their mother’s medical bills. One day, Flynne helps her brother beta test what she thinks is VR. As she tests it, she soon discovers that she is not in a simulation, but has actually been transported to a futuristic London, where she witnesses a murder. As Flynne tries to understand the connection between the two worlds, her presence leads her to put her and her family’s lives in danger.
The Periphery was created by ScottSmith. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joythe creators of HBO’s dystopian sci-fi show, western world (2016–present), serve as executive producers of The Periphery Next to Smith, Athena Wickham, Steve Hoban, Greg Plagemannand Vincenzo Natali. The show stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Gary Carr, Jack Reynor, Eli Goree, Charlotte Riley, JJ Fieldand Adeline Horan. Principal photography for the show began in London on May 3, 2021 and moved to North Carolina on September 24, 2022.

Prime Video has released the official trailer for The Periphery on October 8, 2022. The trailer introduces us to Flynne, who has a lot on her plate. In her words: “I have things to do, Mom has to attend, the house has to be cleaned.” She also seems done with pretending she can live in a simulation because none of it is real. But when her brother shows her a new “modern VR” he asked to test her for a lot of money, Flynne agrees to test it himself. As she puts on the device, she finds herself in London, 70 years in the future, through an avatar, but everything feels real, and she even comments that she feels like she’s in her actual body. But things soon take a dark turn when she witnesses a murder and finds out she’s not playing a sim. What is real and what is not? Can the threats of the future reach Flynne in the present? Will Flynne make it back in one piece? The trailer shows all the action and thrills you can expect The Periphery Season 1.
