How to Watch Vampire Academy
From the Director of the Vampire Diaries comes a tale of love, duty and rebellion. Vampire Academybased on the book series by Richelle Met and a reboot of the ill-fated 2014 film of the same name, sees two women from very different walks of life fighting for self-determination and for one another in the halls of a vampire boarding school. Lissa and Rose, vampire kings and dhampir guardians respectively, share a psychic bond and close relationship, and Rose is in training to protect Lissa from the various dangers that exist outside the walls of the boarding school. However, the evil vampires known as Strigoi are the least of the girls’ worries. The greatest threat they face may be the world within the boarding school itself.
Vampire Academy is developed by Julia Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre. Plec is an old hand in vampire literature and has directed the Vampire Diaries and its two offshoots The originaland legacies. MacIntyre has previously worked with Plec, appearing as Elizabeth the Vampire Diaries and continues to serve as a writer and producer The original. Both women are perfectly placed to make Vampire Academy a worthy addition to the world of vampire literature. The main character, Rose Hathaway, is portrayed by Sisi Stringerfresh from her role as Mileena in 2021 Mortal Kombat. She is also a horror veteran, having appeared in children of the corn and bloody hell. Join her as Lissa Moroi Daniela Nieve, whose acting roles tend toward the dramatic end of the spectrum. She has appeared in the 2021 crime drama series snowfallthe legal drama All riseand the teenage horror drama save me. Now without further ado, here’s how to watch the series.

The trailer gives us a first glimpse into the world that vampire princess Lissa Dragomir lives in; one filled with opulence, sex, blood and fake smiles. Above these displays of wealth and excess, voiceover warns of “the dangers that lurk at our gates” from St. Vladimir. Then we cut to our first look at Rose taking part in an unarmed combat class. It will be their job to fight whatever lurks in that outer darkness. “I want to do my sworn duty,” she says. There is a brief series of flashes in which Rose does just that, struggling desperately to protect Lissa from a monster, revealed to be Strigoi. The trailer also teases a more intimate scene between Rose and her instructor Dimitri, Lissa sitting by a grave, and some sort of ceremony. The trailer also shows Rose and Lissa beginning to form a psychic bond. There are also fight scenes that escalate into an all-out war. Check it all out in the player above!
What is the plot of Vampire Academy?
The series appears to at least roughly follow the events of the book. Lissa, a princess of the Moroi vampire royal family, once used her magic to bring Rose to life as a dhampir, a sort of half-vampire, and they have been best friends ever since. The couple’s bond is tested when they are taken to St. Vladimir’s Academy, an institution bent on tying them into the roles their society has destined them: Lissa as the next monarch, whose The task will be to maintain the power structures already in place, and Rose as a servant and guardian without a will of her own. Also, their entire society is threatened by Strigoi: savage vampires whose goal is to turn Lissa into one of them and kill everyone else. Lissa and Rose’s close bond, along with their forbidden romances with Christian and Dimitri respectively, defies the constraints of vampire society, and their struggle to maintain their self-determination becomes a catalyst for rebellion.
