In latest step forward for India-Latin America, El Salvador’s Foreign minister visits India
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of El Salvador, Alexandra Hill Tinoco, will make an official visit to India from February 9 to 13, 2023.

“Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar received the visiting Foreign Minister and the accompanying delegation for a bilateral meeting on February 10, 2023 at Hyderabad House. Both ministers had a good discussion on the full spectrum of bilateral relations, including political and economic relations, and decided to strengthen cooperation in the areas of health care, solar activities, capacity building, trade expansion and people-to-people relations,” according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They agreed to increase engagement between India and SICA. dr Jaishankar welcomed El Salvador’s support for India’s candidacy for non-permanent membership of the UNSC for 2028-29,” the same press release said.

The visit from El Salvador marks an increasing focus on Latin America in Indian foreign policy in recent years. Recent high-level visits by Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Minister of State Meenakashi Lekhi. Last month Minister Lekhi visited Bolivia, Cuba and Guatemala, among other Central and Latin American countries. India has also built a number of new embassies in this part of the world.
The visit from El Salvador marks an increasing focus on Latin America in Indian foreign policy in recent years. Recent high-level visits by Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Minister of State Meenakashi Lekhi. Last month Minister Lekhi visited Bolivia, Cuba and Guatemala, among other Central and Latin American countries. India has also built a number of new embassies in this part of the world.
