Share about the deluxe version, Los Angeles based Kyle Kalplan And Vinnie Pergola share, “We are very pleased to present the This Can’t Be Everything deluxe album. There are some demos here that we didn’t think would make it onto the original LP, but we knew we wanted to use them for something. We also have some extremely talented artists remixing and reinventing some of the tracks from the original. We think all of this together offers a fresh new hearing and take on This Can’t Be Everything, and we’re thrilled you’re listening.”
Exclusively for EARMILK, the duo describes each of the tracks on the fresh, second deluxe album, track by track.
“The Way You Groove”:
“The Way You Groove” is literally meant to be just a groove. Kind of like your inner voice speaking out loud when you’re observing someone you’re drawn to dancing. We toyed with the idea of adding more vocals, but loved just repeating the main line over and over and adding harmonies. Vinnie actually sings on this number.
“Firepit” with Big Wild (Dillistone Remix):
Dillistone knocked it out of the park by reimagining this track into a deeper, late night club banger. We love his warm production technique and we’re so happy we’ve included him on this deluxe album.
“Put It All On Me” (Leo Islo Remix):
Leo Isleo really did everything to make “Lay It All On Me” even bigger and more atmospheric. The synths and percussion just make you want to close your eyes and lose yourself in the track, it’s beautiful.
“No Reason” (Third Culture Remix):
“I absolutely love Third Culture’s version of No Reason. The addition of those warm 80s chords and dreamy synths in the final drop just takes this track to a whole different place.”
“Crash My Car”:
“We wrote that about a third into the writing process. The vocals were actually just recorded on Kyle’s phone and we decided to just leave them as the final vocals. We kinda loved how easy and short it was and how “to”. “The point” was the lyrics. Even though it’s just this weird little track, we kept coming back to it. It didn’t quite fit into the album itself, so that was the main reason we wanted to put it on the deluxe version.”
“Firepit” with Big Wild (Fort Romeau Remix):
“Fort Romeau’s incredible synth work and structuring compliments the original track so well and takes you somewhere else. As such a fan of his music, it was an honor to have his remix included in this deluxe piece.”
“Do You Want My Love” (Covex Remix):
“We are long time fans of Covex and his remix of ‘Do You Want My Love’ is so beautiful and surprising. He took our nu-disco bordering original and turned it into this warm and progressive track. Beautiful synths and textures.”
