There are many ways to automatically set the power saving mode abbreviations, but for me the easiest method is to turn on the power saving mode when the battery is less than 100%. On your iPhone home screen, scroll all the way to the right to get to yours App Librarythen scroll down and tap abbreviations. Once the app is running, select automation at the bottom of the screen, then tap the blue Create personal automation Button.

How much battery does the power saving mode save?

You won’t get a definitive answer here. The value of power saving mode has been debated since its release with the iPhone 9. While some estimates say batteries last about one and a half times longer in sleep mode, others show very little difference in battery usage.

If you’re interested in keeping your iPhone battery charged longer, you simply have to try the power saving mode for yourself and see the difference.

My own experience agrees with this early estimate of a battery charge lasting about 50% longer in sleep mode. Anecdotally, I find that power saving mode becomes less important as I use the phone more. The power saving mode benefit seems greater when my phone is idle or being used sparingly for texts and 2FA messaging.
