Ipswich Town 2-2 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday gave up pole position in League One after a vibrant draw at Ipswich.

Two goals down in the first half after a great header from Michael Smith and a George Byers strike, the Tractor Boys equalized through Nathan Broadhead and Leif Davis and also had a penalty saved by Owls goalkeeper Cameron Dawson.

Two corners in quick succession saw Ipswich award the penalty when Wes Burns was grounded by Aden Flint after a challenge without the ball.

However, Chaplin’s 19th-minute penalty was clearly deflected off Dawson’s legs.

Wednesday made the most of the stab and put Smith ahead in the 27th minute from a Josh Windass cross.

The visitors extended their lead in the 34th minute when Byers fell on a loose ball in the Ipswich penalty area.

The Suffolk side struck back in the 43rd minute, however, when Broadhead curled a free-kick over the wall and over the underside of the bar after Dominic Iorfa fouled Cameron Humphreys on the edge of the box.

Six minutes into the second half, the hosts were level when Davis’ free-kick was blocked by Byers and rolled over Dawson.

Neither side could find the decisive winner and both teams picked up a point from the contest at Portman Road.
