Is Ja Morant playing tonight against the Hawks? Latest injury update on Grizzlies’ star ahead of matchup (26th March 2023)

Ja Morant is back in action after serving an eight-game suspension. The Memphis Grizzlies guard is one of the best players in the league and will be crucial to the team’s success in the remaining games.

The Grizzlies take on the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday in a bid to win their sixth straight game. Luckily for them, Morant is listed as active and will likely lend itself to the game.

Morant has been great since his return despite only playing a few minutes. Considering he came off the bench in the last two games, he’s also likely to be used as a backup against the Hawks.

Morant has established himself as one of the best players in the league this season. However, the 23-year-old superstar has also been very controversial, which is why the NBA suspended him for eight games earlier this month.

Returning to action after serving the suspension, Morant appeared in two games against the Houston Rockets. For the first time in his four-year pro career, the 6-foot-3 guard did not make the starting XI. However, this was not a problem for him.

In two games against the Rockets, Ja Morant averaged just 21.6 minutes per game. However, he was very efficient, averaging 17.5 ppg on 56.0% shooting.

The Grizzlies won the first game by just five points, but their last game was a total blast as they ended up winning it by 37 points. Playing against the Atlanta Hawks is going to be a lot harder, but Morant and the Grizzlies are on a roll.

The two-time All-Star has been relatively healthy this season, missing fewer than 10 games before his suspension. He is listed as active for Sunday night’s matchup, meaning basketball fans will likely see another matchup between Morant and Trae Young.

The Memphis Grizzlies (46-27) are 3.5 games behind the first-placed Denver Nuggets (50-24). With nine games to play, it’s very unlikely they’ll dethrone the Nuggets. However, they must protect their current position.

The Grizzlies are just 1.5 games ahead of the Sacramento Kings (45-29), who have won their last two games and have one of the easiest remaining game schedules in the league.

Ja Morant’s return should help the Grizzlies retain their place in the conference and face an easier opponent in the first round of the playoffs.

In their first matchup of the season, the Grizzlies defeated the Hawks 128-103. However, Morant did not play as he was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
