Joanna Gaines Responds to Backlash from ‘Fixer Upper’ Fans After Her Latest Room Makeover

fixer above Fans love Joanna Gaines for her impeccable style and eye for design. After all, she’s been designing houses (and even a castle!) for more than 20 years and has garnered legions of followers through her TV shows, magazines, and books. But some commenters on Instagram are calling her latest makeover her “first failure.”

Joanna explained that she has undertaken a minor renovation for a young family who recently had a baby. Unlike some of her fixer above Makeovers, this one was quick and mostly cosmetic. Joanna said on her blog that she hoped to show that small adjustments like furniture and accessories can make a big impact (no demo day needed!). She and her team tackled the “Mini Reni” and converted the living room, dining room and bedroom in just seven days. And it’s the bedroom that gets a lot of attention.

Joanna and the Magnolia account posted a fun before and after showing the transformation of the room. The caption reads: “Watch @joannagaines transform a plain white space into one with history and character – a mix of old and new. ✨ Which corner is your favorite? #MiniReni.”

Joanna’s fans blasted the comments section, many of them reacting strongly to the navy blue wallpaper. Like most of the furniture and accessories used, it is from their Magnolia line.

  • β€œOut of thousands of hits, this is clearly a miss for me. Maybe it looks better in person.”

  • “wallpaper looks like bathroom tile.”

  • “I’m glad I’m not the only one who came to the comments to say there is a bathroom.”

Of course, there are a few fans who compliment Joanna’s sense of style with messages like “What a beautiful transformation 😍 love the blue versus white! πŸ™Œβ€ and β€œ
It’s not a failure at all! It’s masculine and modern and so much better than before!!! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘”

Joanna took to her Instagram stories to address the reaction to the space. Pairing the bedroom makeover video with the Lenny Kravitz song Are You Gonna Go My Way, she wrote, “Lots of opinions on the boys room wallpaper for #minireni! Poll asking fans if the wallpaper is “a cute wallpaper for a boy’s room πŸ€—” or “80s airport bathroom wall tile. πŸ˜‚” be.

Based on Joanna’s response, we assume she has a good sense of humor with this feedback. As always, you can’t please everyone! We can’t wait to see what Joanna dreams of next.
