Jon Rahm earnings: Torrid start to 2023 PGA Tour season sets historic pace with Genesis Invitational win

Jon Rahm won Sunday’s Genesis Invitational with an impressive four-round score of 17 under – two shots ahead of second-place Max Homa.

It was Rahm’s third win on the PGA Tour this season, not to mention his seventh place in the top 10 and fifth in the top 5. It also resulted in an incredible $3.6 million payout, his by far biggest of the season. (Certainly contributing to this is the huge prize pool from the Genesis Invitational, which ranks second on the PGA Tour this season at $20 million).

But his incredible play this season, coupled with uplifting select tournaments with larger purse sizes in 2022-23, has brought the Spanish golfer several massive paydays.

Rahm had earned $9.86 million in just seven tournaments played on the PGA Tour. In addition, the No. 1 player according to the official world golf rankings has no official money for his play in the Hero World Challenge, where he placed eighth in December.

If Rahm continues his pace of play — and with several other hugely profitable tournaments on the horizon — Rahm could break the record for most official money made on the PGA Tour this season.

It’s worth noting that several tournaments have been given “elevated” status by the PGA Tour starting this season, in direct response to the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour, which has offered incredible payouts for tournaments on the tour (and some as well lured the PGA). Top Talent of the Tour):

Where Jon Rahm ranks in official earned money

As it stands now, Rahm’s total earnings this year have already made his 2023 season one of the most profitable in PGA Tour history. He currently ranks ninth all-time in total official money earned when compared to the seasons’ official money leaders. He’s still several million dollars short of Scheffler’s $13.17 million mark, set just last season.

However, Rahm has the decisive advantage that he has only participated in seven tournaments this season. He still has all four majors, multiple elevated tournaments, and three FedEx Cup Playoff events to play. If he continues his current pace, he will break Scheffler’s record.
