Jude Bellingham transfer latest as ‘first choice’ emerges amid Liverpool links
Liverpool are out of action for three weeks now as they’re left to stew over their Champions League exit and the impending fight for a top four finish. A lot of talk has suggested the Reds’ Premier League failure could hamper their Jude Bellingham pursuit.
The 19-year-old Englishman has been the breakout star this season after his blossoming performances at Borussia Dortmund. This season in particular has been a standout for Bellingham, he has been a catalyst for Edin Terzic’s side, helping them in the Bundesliga and in Europe before starring for the Three Lions at the Qatar World Cup.
Liverpool aren’t far away from the conversation when the former Birmingham City youngster is mentioned. As we tick towards the summer transfer window, the saga continues to brew as Manchester City and Real Madrid are also touted.

Plenty is being said and written about Bellingham all the time. So here is a round-up of reports and developments, with the most recent first…
BELLINGHAM MAKES LIVERPOOL ‘FIRST CHOICE’ AS REDS TO MATCH £130M PRICE-TAG
Liverpool are Jude Bellingham’s first choice destination should he leave Borussia Dortmund, according to reports.
In an ‘exclusive’ from Football Insider, the Reds are frontrunners to sign the England star this season but face firm competition from Real Madrid, as well as the Bundesliga side’s attempts to keep him at Signal Iduna Park beyond the summer.
Contract talks have been opened with BVB, it has been said, but Liverpool are reportedly prepared to match their £130m fee and land their main target in the summer.
Bellingham has emphasised his full focus remains with the German side as they look to battle Bayern Munich to end their stronghold at the summit in the Bundesliga.
Further to the report from Football Insider, should a move to the English top flight emerge, a move to Jurgen Klopp’s outfit is ‘preferred’ over the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.
JACK GREALISH SENDS JUDE BELLINGHAM TRANSFER MESSAGE
Jack Grealish has appeared to tell Jude Bellingham to ‘join’ Manchester City amid links with Liverpool.
The Reds continue to be credited with an interest in signing the Borussia Dortmund midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window. Jurgen Klopp and the Anfield hierarchy are well known to be admirers of Bellingham, but it remains to be seen whether a move will happen.
As well as Liverpool, the likes of Man City, Real Madrid, Man United and Chelsea have also been linked with signing the 19-year-old. And now Grealish has appeared to urge Bellingham to join him in Manchester.
Manuel Akanji posted on Instagram a series of photos of himself, which led to Bellingham leaving a comment. The duo were Dortmund team-mates, before Akanji signed for City last summer.
Bellingham wrote: “He’s changed,” while tagging Dortmund team-mate Giovanni Reyna, along with a shocked face emoji.
Grealish replied to Bellingham’s comment, by writing: “Come to city xx.”
LIVERPOOL ‘WANT’ JUDE BELLINGHAM
The Times journalist Paul Joyce has written about Liverpool’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham with the summer transfer window fast approaching us.
Bellingham is wanted by Jurgen Klopp and has made the England star his number one target and, according to the respected Joyce, the Reds boss sees the teenager as a ‘transformative figure’ in the midfield.
But Liverpool will face a battle from Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United for the 19-year-old, who is rumoured to be valued at £110m and above.
And Joyce writes about the caution around spending such huge amounts: “Liverpool want Jude Bellingham – but for every rumour of his move, there is still caution. Is spending more than £100m on one player the equivalent of putting too many eggs in one basket for a club who need two midfield additions?”
UNITED IN THE RACE FOR BELLINGHAM
Manchester United have reportedly added Chelsea’s Mason Mount to a list of attacking midfield targets including Jude Bellingham. That’s according to a report by the Guardian, who claim Erik Ten Hag is looking to strengthen in attacking midfield during the summer transfer window.
The report goes on to claim that United remain in the race for Bellingham, however their interest in Harry Kane could price them out of a move for the Dortmund midfielder. The 19-year-old is also, according to the report, being courted by Real Madrid and Liverpool.
LIVERPOOL ‘GROWING IN CONFIDENCE’ IN PURSUIT OF BELLINGHAM
It is understood Liverpool are growing increasingly confident in their pursuit of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, but it could hinge on Champions League qualification, according to the Daily Mail.
Bellingham is wanted by elite clubs around Europe and the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are battling for the teenagers signature.
Liverpool have made it four wins in five games following the 7-0 thumping of United on Sunday evening and have moved three points behind Tottenham in the race for the top four.
DORTMUND TO ‘STAND FIRM’ OVER THEIR BELLINGHAM VALUATION
Borussia Dortmund will ‘stand firm’ on their valuation of star man Jude Bellingham despite allowing his family and advisors to talk to clubs ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to 90min.
The England internationals future is unclear as he is being chased by Liverpool, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United as Dortmund wait for Bellingham to confirm his plans.
Bellingham has two years remaining on his contract and the Bundesliga club are willing to offer him a new del with improved terms in an attempt at keeping him at the club.
DORTMUND SPORTING DIRECTOR MAINTAINS DEFIANT BELLINGHAM STANCE
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl maintained a defiant tone when quizzed on Jude Bellingham’s future ahead of yesterday evening’s Champions League defeat by Chelsea.
The Bundesliga giants crashed out of the competition following the Londoners’ 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge, though were unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty late on in the contest.
Speaking to BT Sport before the game, Kehl was again asked to issue an update on Dortmund’s prized asset and agreed with the assessment of BVB boss Edin Terzic that the England international remains focused on his current employers.
“This is the big thing at the moment, of course,” he said. “He still has a contract and he is very focused on football. He’s very focused on Borussia Dortmund and this team and we’re happy to have him.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM ’50/50′ TO STAY AT BORUSSIA DORTMUND
Borussia Dortmund are fighting hard to keep Jude Bellingham on their books beyond the end of the season, according to reports in Germany.
Bild claims (as per Jan Aage Fjortoft) that the Bundesliga club’s chances of holding onto the in-demand teenager are rated as ’50/50′.
The report says that Bellingham currently earns €6million per year, but will be offered €15million per year to continue his adventure in German football with Dortmund.
LIVERPOOL FANS SPOT JUDE BELLINGHAM REACTION TO 7-0 WIN OVER MANCHESTER UNITED
Jude Bellingham appears to have ‘liked’ Liverpool’s win over Manchester United, judging by his social media activity.
The Reds claimed a famous 7-0 win over their bitter rivals in their Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday. Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah scored a brace each before Roberto Firmino finished off the scoring in front of the Kop.
After the full-time whistle, many Liverpool players took to social media to express their delight at the result. One of them was Trent Alexander-Arnold, with his Instagram post featuring a selfie in the Main Stand tunnel, as well as a photo of the scoreboard, which read “Liverpool 7 Manchester United 0”.
Eagle-eyed supporters have noticed that Bellingham, who continues to be heavily linked with a move to the Reds, liked the post from England international team-mate Alexander-Arnold.
Alexander-Arnold recently spoke about Bellingham and the potential the 19-year-old has. But the Liverpool full-back was rather coy over whether he thought a move to Anfield this summer would happen.
TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD STRUGGLES NOT TO LAUGH AFTER JUDE BELLINGHAM QUESTION
Trent Alexander-Arnold struggled to keep the smile off his face when asked about Liverpool target Jude Bellingham.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is likely to leave Germany in the summer with the Reds leading the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Liverpool’s number 66 and the 19-year-old struck up a strong friendship while away on World Cup duty for England in Qatar.
“He’s an incredible player, especially for his age,” Alexander-Arnold told JOE. “I think, deep down, only he knows his ceiling. I think there isn’t really one. He can achieve what he wants to. He’s got everything he needs to go and do that.
“He’s one of those players that you just enjoy watching, enjoy seeing. The sky’s the limit for him – he’s an incredible player and an incredible person.”
The interviewer then suggested it would be nice to have Bellingham in the Liverpool squad. At this point, Alexander-Arnold let out a laugh and said “I suppose, yeah.”
REAL MADRID ‘UNWILLING’ TO SANCTION BELLINGHAM MOVE AFTER ONE CONDITION
Liverpool could be handed a boost in their pursuit of Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid as Los Blancos ponder over the Borussia Dortmund star.
Spanish news outlet Diario AS has outlined that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are said to be unwilling to commit to a mega-money move for the Englishman – which could be a world record for a player.
Currently in the middle of midfield, the record Champions League holders have Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. In order for a move for the former Birmingham City youngster to be sanctioned, there needs to be a belief that their gametime will drastically reduce, it has been claimed.
Liverpool are set for a busy summer as there is a growing need and insistence that spending is needed at the end of the season. Jurgen Klopp has been open in his assessment over his squad and the evidence points towards additions in the summer transfer window.
LIVERPOOL ‘IN POLE POSITION’ TO SIGN JUDE BELLINGHAM
Liverpool are still the frontrunner in the race to sign Jude Bellingham according to Patrick Berger from German outlet Sport 1.
The 19-year-old has been of interest to the Reds after impressing last season. After displays across all four competitions that Borussia Dortmund have been involved in, as well as his showing in the World Cup, the stock has risen in the England international.
Manchester City and Real Madrid are now among the names said to be in the hunt for Bellingham. By comparison, Liverpool have had a disappointing season where they sit nine points off the top four.
However, the German transfer expert has reported that the Reds are still leading the hunt to sign him.
Speaking to Redmen TV, he said: “I think this is some good news for you guys, what I’m told is that Liverpool are still in the pole position, the front runners [to sign Bellingham] and that they are the main target also for Jude.
“There are some clubs like [Manchester] City and Real Madrid also in the race but he turned down proposals from Chelsea and PSG for the summer.”
LIVERPOOL FORM WON’T HAMPER PURSUIT OF BELLINGHAM
Jurgen Klopp’s side have struggled for consistency this season and saw their only hopes of adding a trophy to the Anfield gallery dented as they lost 5-2 to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
However, Bundesliga journalist Christian Falk believes the current problems at Anfield will not deter the midfielder from wanting to join the Reds this summer.
“I heard that Jude Bellingham is keeping a very close eye on what Liverpool are doing at the moment,” wrote Falk in his Caughtoffisde column. “I’ve been told nobody should think he’s a player that wouldn’t go to Liverpool because of the difficult situation they’re in.
“It’s the other way around – he’s actually the kind of guy who would love to go to a club where he can change their fortunes.
“At Liverpool, he sees that the club is in need of him and that he can build something there, so that’s why the side remains an interesting option for him.
“As you see in the Premier League, they’re not massively far away from the Champions League places but it’s important to note that Champions League qualification isn’t a deal-breaker for Bellingham. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt Liverpool’s chances!”
WIN OVER LIVERPOOL COULD HAND REAL MADRID ADVANTAGE
Liverpool and Real Madrid are amongst the favourites to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer with the Reds thought to be leading the race.
However, Spanish outlet Fichajes have reported Madrid’s huge 5-2 victory over Liverpool at Anfield in Tuesday’s Champions League clash could sway the race in their favour.
Liverpool are struggling in eighth place in the Premier League and an exit from the Champions League at the last-16 stage is looking likely.
Bellingham may see Carlo Ancelotti’s side as a more attractive option with a major rebuild needed by Jurgen Klopp.
OPTIMISM AT REAL MADRID TURNED TO PESSIMISM
Real Madrid will not compete in a ‘bidding war’ with Liverpool for Jude Bellingham, according to Spanish outlet Marca as per @theMadridZone.
The report says that the European champions were ‘optimistic’ weeks ago over the prospect of securing the Dortmund midfielder, but recent twists have left them feeling much less positive.
Marca have also reported the ‘operation is not under control’ as Liverpool remain favourites to capture the signing of the England international.
LIVERPOOL TARGET ‘HAS IT ALL’ ACCORDING TO MICAH RICHARDS
Football pundit Micah Richards has insisted Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has a ‘huge future’ ahead of him.
The 19-year-old captained Dortmund to a Champions League last 16 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night and put in a fine performance up against £106 million man Enzo Fernandez.
Liverpool are thought to still be leading the chase for the star midfielder ahead of a summer move, but will face stiff competition from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Richards said to CBS Sports: “He’s a class act, isn’t he? We’ve been talking about him for years now.
“He mentioned in his interview about the captain and everything like that, he’s just class. Whether he’s in a defensive role, an attacking role, his effect on the game, his game intelligence – he’s just got it all.
“Big things for his future ahead.”
CHELSEA ‘WANT’ JUDE BELLINGHAM DESPITE £600M TRANSFER SPEND
Chelsea remain interested in a summer swoop for Jude Bellingham despite spending in excess of £600million during the previous two transfer windows.
The Londoners broke the British transfer record fee paid for a player when recruiting Enzo Fernandez from Benfica last month but Todd Boehly is prepared to continue targeting Europe’s elite talents to take Chelsea back to the top of the English game.
Indeed, the Telegraph have stated Graham Potter’s side recognise they are not favourites to recruit Bellingham but are ‘doing everything in their power’ to be part of the conversation and are ‘ready to make a move’.
Chelsea are said to be eyeing Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo as alternative midfield targets, though the Dortmund star ‘tops their list’ of potential purchases in this department.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND BREAK SILENCE WITH BELLINGHAM UPDATE
Borussia Dortmund have revealed there has been no progress regarding contract talks with Liverpool target Jude Bellingham – and admit keeping the player may be “wishful thinking”.
Bellingham is expected to be one of the most sought-after names in the summer transfer window after his burgeoning reputation was increased further by his contribution in helping England reach the World Cup quarter-finals in December.
Liverpool are expected to make a concerted effort to sign the 19-year-old midfielder, who is also attracting interest from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Manchester United.
And Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl is realistic about Bellingham’s situation despite not giving up hope of agreeing a new deal for a player who is out of contract in two years.
“There has been no new development,” said Kehl of negotiations with the England man. “We’ll have to be patient for a little longer.”

‘HE HAS NO LIMITS’ – EDIN TERZIC RAVES OVER JUDE BELLINGHAM
Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic has again lavished praise on Jude Bellingham.
The 19-year-old was instrumental in the Yellow Wall extending their impressive start to 2023. Although the England international didn’t manage to get his name on the scoresheet, he played a key role as they earned an invaluable three points away at Werder Bremen.
Their win at the Weserstadion meant that they have now won all six of their games, in all competitions, since returning from the winter break. They now prepare for the Champions League last-16 clash with Chelsea.
But for Terzic, he couldn’t help but rave about the in-demand midfielder. Speaking after their triumph on Saturday, he said: “He is outstanding and has no limits. He is the eldest 19-year-old in the world“
JUDE BELLINGHAM ‘TURNS DOWN’ CHELSEA
Bellingham has reportedly turned down a move to Chelsea in the summer after being ‘unconvinced’ by their project.
Christian Falk of SportBILD wrote in his exclusive Caught Offside column about how Bellingham briefly considered a transfer to Stamford Bridge before saying no to Graham Potter’s side.
Liverpool, despite their poor form this season, are still reportedly in the lead to sign the 19-year-old superstar with Real Madrid and Manchester City also interested – although they could face a wait to secure his services.
“The Premier League remains the first target for Jude Bellingham,” Falk said. “I’ve always said Liverpool would be his preferred target but, of course, everyone knows that they’re not doing too well at the moment.
“It’s also a hope for Dortmund still that, if Liverpool aren’t playing in Europe, there’s the possibility of extending Bellingham’s stay by a year. Dortmund has a good chance of winning the Bundesliga, it’s very close. So there could be a chance that Bellingham waits for Liverpool.”
REAL MADRID ‘ATTENTIVE’ TO LIVERPOOL SITUATION
Real Madrid are said to be paying close attention to Liverpool’s stuttering season as they look to use the Reds’ struggles to their advantage in the race to sign Jude Bellingham.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are losing ground in their fight for the top four, dealing the club a potentially devastating blow in their bid to sign Bellingham. A player the quality of the 19-year-old will want to have guarantees of competing in the Champions League next year as he looks to continue shining on the biggest stage.
A latest report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo has claimed Madrid are ‘very attentive’ to the situation that is unfolding and will look to exploit Liverpool’s misfortune during the summer transfer window. The article describes Liverpool’s drop-off as a ‘crisis’ that ‘without doubt’ will hamper the club’s ability to financially compete for the England international.
JUDE BELLINGHAM ‘HESITATING’ OVER JOINING LIVERPOOL
Jude Bellingham is reportedly unsure about signing for Liverpool this summer.
According to journalist Patrik Berger, who has spoke on the ‘Die Dortmund-Woche‘ podcast, Bellingham is having doubts about signing for the Reds.
It has been claimed that Liverpool’s current position in the Premier League table is making the player ‘hesitating’ over making the move to Anfield in the summer.
Bellingham, it has been claimed, would want to play in the Champions League every season, and Liverpool’s form this season is apparently forming doubts over moving to Merseyside.
LIVERPOOL READY TO ‘THROW EVERYTHING’ AT JUDE BELLINGHAM
Liverpool are ready to throw everything at trying to land number one transfer target Jude Bellingham this summer, according to the latest reports.
The Reds’ desire to overhaul their midfield at the end of the season is no secret, with Bellingham considered the key component to build the engine room around, but Liverpool face competition from Real Madrid and Manchester City for his signature. Despite the stiff opposition, journalist Ben Jacobs is of the opinion that Jurgen Klopp will go all in to get his man.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, he said: “Jude Bellingham is there for Liverpool and they consider themselves to be one of the frontrunners. I don’t think we can rule out Manchester City more seriously entering the race over the coming weeks.
“They’re later to the process than Liverpool or Real Madrid, but those are the three main contenders. If Liverpool have their way, we know that Bellingham is a top target, so I do expect them to throw everything at it.”
REAL MADRID FEAR PREMIER LEAGUE MUSCLE WILL WIN IN JUDE BELLINGHAM CHASE
Real Madrid fear Jude Bellingham’s next destination will be the Premier League with the financial muscle proving too much for the Spanish champions to go up against.
Liverpool have been said to be frontrunners for the Borussia Dortmund star, but Manchester City are also pushing very hard to secure the signing of the England man.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side want to make the 19-year-old their marquee summer signing, but, according to The Athletic, are becoming resigned to the fact the financial power in England is too hard to compete against.
JUDE BELLINGHAM BENCHMARK EMERGES AFTER ENZO FERNANDEZ DEAL
Borussia Dortmund will reportedly use Chelsea’s purchase of Enzo Fernandez as a benchmark for what clubs can expect to pay as a minimum price for Jude Bellingham.
The Londoners paid the £106.8m release clause inserted in the Argentine’s Benfica contract, making him the most expensive Premier League transfer of all time.
It has long been suggested Dortmund would demand in excess of £100m for Bellingham this summer, which now seems all the more likely after Fernandez’s big-money move to Stamford Bridge.
A latest update on the situation provided by Bild reporter Christian Falk has made clear all parties were ‘keeping a close eye’ on potential Fernandez developments, in order to gauge just how much Dortmund can expect to receive for their prized asset.
Bellingham is far more established within the game than Fernandez despite being three years his senior, only adding to the idea he will command a significant fee. Falk has claimed ‘he won’t be cheaper’ than the £106.8m paid for Chelsea’s new recruit, ensuring Liverpool ‘now know what they have to bring to the table’.
JUDE BELLINGHAM’S PARENTS ‘PREFER’ PREMIER LEAGUE MOVE AS REAL MADRID HANDED POTENTIAL BLOW
Jude Bellingham’s parents are in favour of a move to the Premier League amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester City, according to reports.
The future of the 19-year-old has been subject to speculation since his astronomic rise in football following performances with Borussia Dortmund and then England at the World Cup last November.
Liverpool have been increasingly linked with a move for Bellingham as their interest intensifies and according to Spanish outlet Relevo, the parents of Birmingham City’s youngest-ever player believe a move to the English top flight will make his adaptation easier.
This, in turn, would come as a blow to Real Madrid but as per the report, a move to Real Madrid can still happen later on. Los Blancos have Bellingham high on their list of priorities this summer as the transformation of their midfield continues.
With interest mounting around Europe, Borussia Dortmund are still hoping to renew his contract which would make him the highest-paid player in the squad but it has been reported that he is weighing up options.
LIVERPOOL HANDED JUDE BELLINGHAM WARNING AS FINANCIAL POWERHOUSE ‘WEIGHS UP’ MOVE
Simon Jordan believes the big-money arrival of new Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez could impact Liverpool’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham as Newcastle United ‘weigh up’ a move for the 19-year-old.
Eddie Howe’s side have been conscious with their investment since they came in to financial riches when Saudi Arabia’s Private Investment Fund took majority ownership at St James’ Park.
According to German publication Sport Bild, the Magpies are now said to be eyeing a move for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder as his future at Borussia Dortmund reaches a crossroads.
Chelsea topped their mammoth effort during the January transfer window by breaking the British record for a player when they splashed £105m on the Argentina midfielder, Fernandez.
Liverpool faced links with the Benfica-man, but the talkSPORT co-host has raised concerns for the Reds that the previous figures mooted for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder could now increase as a result of the deadline day move.

REAL MADRID ‘BIDDING WAR’ CLAIM MADE AS LIVERPOOL RIVAL JUDE BELLINGHAM MOVE
Real Madrid are set to rival Liverpool in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, however they don’t want to get into a bidding war, it has been said.
According to reports in Spain, Los Blancos are hoping the 19-year-old continues his stint abroad and swaps Dortmund for Madrid. His future remains uncertain after enjoying a stellar campaign in Germany before jetting off to the World Cup with England and being one of the standout members of Gareth Southgate’s side.
AS say that Carlo Ancelotti’s side know they need to make a big investment if they are to land one of the Three Lions’ hottest prospects, said to priced around £132m, and will go ‘all out’ to sign him.
Madrid are reportedly willing to match that figure but it has been claimed they’re not willing to pay any more.
JUDE BELLINGHAM ‘LEANING TOWARDS’ LIVERPOOL MOVE
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham is said to be “leaning towards” a move to Liverpool, according to the Mirror.
The Reds and Jurgen Klopp will stand firm in the dying hours of the January transfer window due to the players being available. Cody Gakpo remains the only arrival at Anfield this month after penning a deal at the end of January – as it stands, loan deals could be likely and the future of Nat Phillips remaining uncertain.
David Maddock from the outlet has reported that the German will keep faith in his current options, despite knowing midfield reinforcements are needed, in order to achieve top four and attract Bellingham and Matheus Nunes.
The 19-year-old captained Dortmund on Saturday as they made it three wins in three following the restart of the Bundesliga.
JUDE BELLINGHAM SENT LIVERPOOL TRANSFER MESSAGE AFTER JURGEN KLOPP ADMISSION
Liverpool fans have ransacked Jude Bellingham’s latest Instagram post with numerous transfer pleas as they hope to lure the Borussia Dortmund man to Anfield.
The 19-year-old is quickly becoming the most coveted player in Europe after his displays for both England and the Bundesliga side. Jurgen Klopp’s side are among the interested parties but face competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City as well as a possible extension at Signal Iduna Park.
Desperation and the clamour for another arrival will no doubt be rising in the coming days as the transfer window closes in just over 24 hours (11pm on Tuesday, January 31).
Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup on Sunday as Brighton booked their place in the Fifth Round thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Kaoru Mitoma. Borussia Dortmund on the other hand continued their unbeaten return to domestic action.
Following the win, the midfielder posted on Instagram: “Taking three big points back to Dortmund.”
Reds fans flocked to his most recent upload to express their desire to see him follow Klopp from the Yellow Wall to Anfield. One user commented: “Come to Liverpool we need you,” while another added: “Come Liverpool man we need saving”.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND GIVE JUDE BELLINGHAM UPDATE AMID LIVERPOOL LINKS
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has confirmed the club have not received any approaches for star man Jude Bellingham.
Liverpool are thought to be frontrunners for the 19-year-old, but Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are all wanting to sign the England star.
“From a sporting point of view, I would be more than happy if the boy stayed and stayed with Borussia Dortmund for a long time,” said Kehl. “However, I can’t predict how the topic will develop in a few months.
“At the moment there are no talks about him.”
LIVERPOOL ‘STILL CONFIDENT’ OF SIGNING JUDE BELLINGHAM
Liverpool are ‘still confident’ in securing the signing of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Reds are battling it out with Real Madrid and Manchester City for the 19-year-old, who is reportedly available in the summer for a fee worth over £100 million.
Jurgen Klopp has identified the England international as his number one target to turn Liverpool’s midfield fortunes around.
Jacobs said in a Twitter Q&A: “Liverpool still confident. Not a lot of changed. Real are there (but have a slightly lower fee in mind). #MCFC one to watch also. Later to the race, but they’ll make their move post-window.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM TO LIVERPOOL ‘HOT’
Liverpool is the most likely destination for Bellingham, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Plettenberg was appearing on Sky Sports to provide an update on the midfielder’s future. And the journalist made it clear that the Reds are “pushing” for a deal to bring Bellingham to Anfield.
He said: “BVB are chanceless at this stage to keep him but he has a contract without a release clause so the price tag is very, very high. Dortmund want between €100m-€150m.”
Plettenberg said that Jurgen Klopp is “pushing, pushing, pushing” to get his man but had not yet spoken to Bellingham himself. However, he also claimed that the likes of Julian Ward had already had conversations.
Plettenberg added: “Liverpool and Bellingham is hot but they have to make clear right now who is paying the money.”
REAL MADRID ‘CAN’T COMPETE FINANCIALLY’ WITH LIVERPOOL FOR JUDE BELLINGHAM
Liverpool and Real Madrid both remain heavily linked with making a move for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham in the summer, but latest reports from MARCA state that the Spanish giants may struggle.
The renowned Spanish media outlet have claimed that Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City are fighting to secure the signing of the England international.
It is being reported that an offer of more than £96m will be needed to take Bellingham away from Dortmund.
Liverpool have a mountain to climb if Bellingham will only opt for a club in the Champions League with the Reds currently 10 points away from the top four.
JUDE BELLINGHAM ‘TO REJECTED CONTRACT OFFER’ FROM DORTMUND
Jude Bellingham will reportedly reject a new contract offer from Borussia Dortmund amid links with Liverpool.
The Reds continue to be linked with a move for the England international, who is also said to be attracting interest from the likes of Man City, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Man United.
According to the Daily Star, Bellingham is poised to reject a new contract from Dortmund which will prompt intense interest in his services.
It has been claimed that Dortmund will offer Bellingham a £180-000 a week salary, but despite this expect the midfielder to reject the offer in favour of a move to a new club in the summer.
‘I’LL FLY TO DORTMUND’ – STEVEN GERRARD SENDS JUDE BELLINGHAM MESSAGE
Steven Gerrard has lauded the qualities of Liverpool target Jude Bellingham and believes he “ticks all the boxes” for the Reds.
The 19-year-old has established himself as the hottest prospect in world football and has already had a price tag of up to £150m slapped on him. Bellingham showcased his skills with England during the World Cup last year and although they failed to make it beyond the quarter-finals, the Borussia Dortmund man came away with a host of admirers.
Speaking to BT Sport ahead of Liverpool’s 0-0 stalemate with Chelsea, Gerrard expressed his admiration for the midfielder – widely tipped to follow in his footsteps.
“I think the obvious one is Bellingham. What he is doing out there at Dortmund, I’m a huge fan, I think the way he comes across, speaks about the game, his performances that I’ve seen, he impresses me,” Gerrard said.
“He’s the obvious one, I do think now that Henderson is adapting his game and covers Trent, Thiago is more a footballer, Fabinho stays, Liverpool lack this running number eight who can run, arrive late, get you goals, has that power, burst who can step aside and leaves them for dead.
“Bellingham ticks all those boxes, he’s the obvious one. I think it’s important we don’t become obsessed with one midfielder, it’s Liverpool Football Club, everyone around the world knows Liverpool will be looking, scouting and there’s an awful lot of very good midfielders around the world.”
After bigging up the benefits of making the move to Anfield, pundit Rio Ferdinand quipped: “You sold it pretty well there.” To which Gerrard replied: “All he needs to do is send his diary to me, I’ll fly to Dortmund, we’ll go out for a nice dinner and talk about it.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM TRANSFER PLEA MADE BY BORUSSIA DORTMUND
Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic wants Jude Bellingham to ‘break the mould’ by rejecting the advances from the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City to stay in Germany.
The 19-year-old is highly unlikely to leave Dortmund this month, but a move away in the summer is being tipped as top clubs circle.
Bellingham is the most valuable teenager in world football after impressing in the Bundesliga since arriving from Birmingham City as a 17-year-old. The midfielder has also performed well in the Champions League and the World Cup, for England..
“I believe that we need to work on keeping these young guys one year longer,” Terzic told The Athletic. “In my first season [as interim manager], I was able to put Jadon (Sancho), Jude and Erling (Haaland) on the pitch, but that was their only year together.
“That was also partly due to COVID-19 and empty stadiums, there were financial considerations. But if we can get to the point where it’s two or three years of such a trio, maybe we can break the mould.”
‘NO FAVOURITES’ IN JUDE BELLINGHAM PURSUIT
Jan Aage Fjortoft says that Jude Bellingham’s representatives have told Real Madrid that they are speaking to Liverpool too.
Reports from Spain have suggested that the La Liga giants are the favourites to sign the England international. However, former Norway international Fjortoft, who now works in the media, has stated there are “no favourites” for his signature “at the moment”, and that his camp are “investigating their options”.
Bellingham will return to action with Borussia Dortmund this weekend.
JUDE BELLINGHAM SET FOR CRUNCH TALKS AFTER REAL MADRID ‘PREFERENCE’
Jude Bellingham will reportedly hold crunch talks with Borussia Dortmund after ‘indicating’ to Real Madrid that he prefers a move to the Spanish giants.
That’s according to Diario AS, who have reiterated that Los Blancos remains the 19-year-old’s preference. However, there has been no dialogue between any club and Dortmund, as per the Spanish news outlet.
It has been said that a meeting between Bellingham’s father and his representative will be set to discuss his future and that Dortmund will consider the players’ preference when speaking to potential suitors.
LIVERPOOL ‘OPTIMISTIC ‘ IN SIGNING JUDE BELLINGHAM
Liverpool chiefs are still ‘optimistic’ about signing Jude Bellingham, according to Florian Plettenberg.
Talks have taken place, as per the German journalist, but the 19-year-old has yet to speak to the Reds boss, Jurgen Klopp.
It has been said that the club are offering him the possibility to become the ‘new Steven Gerrard’ but the Sky Sport adds ‘there is no official offer’ yet.
LIVERPOOL ‘IN TALKS’ WITH JUDE BELLINGHAM’S FATHER
Liverpool are reportedly already ‘in talks’ to sign Jude Bellingham, according to BILD TV presenter Valentina Maceri.
Speaking to Sky Sports, she says, according to their information, the Reds are already in dialogue with the 19-year-old’s father ahead of a proposed move in the summer.
“For now I don’t think he will sign a new contract with Borussia Dortmund, there are no official offers at Dortmund yet and they want to give Bellingham all the time he needs to make a decision,” Maceri said. “For now, Bellingham wants to focus on the weekend because there’s a reset of the Bundesliga.
“His father, our information, is talking to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp wants to sign him at Liverpool but there’s also Real Madrid and Manchester City – I think everyone wants a player like Bellingham but these three teams are the leading ones in this poker on Bellingham.
“Klopp said if Bellingham would decide for the money, he’s not going to choose Liverpool but if Bellingham would choose the development of himself as a player, on tradition and love of the game, he could decide Liverpool. My gut is maybe we could see him at Liverpool.”
LIVERPOOL PREPARE ‘DOUBLE SWOOP’ FOR BELLINGHAM AND NUNES
Liverpool are said to be preparing a double swoop for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham and Wolves’ Matheus Nunes, according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds face stern competition in their pursuit of the 19-year-old as Real Madrid and Manchester City are among the financial powerhouses looking to secure the youngsters’ services.
In a report from the Mail, as part of a midfield rebuild, Jurgen Klopp is looking to acquire both Nunes and Bellingham with neither possible deal scuppering the other.
The Brazilian midfielder only signed terms at Molineux in the summer but Liverpool are said to be already targeting a move in the summer.
LIVERPOOL HAVE 100 PER CENT ‘FOCUS’ ON BELLINGHAM
Liverpool have retained a 100 per cent ‘focus’ on signing Jude Bellingham next summer, with Jurgen Klopp determined to oversee a rebuilding project at the end of the season.
It has been a testing few weeks for the Reds, who fell to another defeat last weekend in the Premier League at Brighton. Supporters continue to call for recruitment during the current window, though it appears increasingly likely wholesale changes will be made come the end of 2022/23.
Sky Sports Germany have stated Klopp is ‘not thinking about resigning’ despite the way in which this campaign is unravelling and continues to have the ‘full support’ of those at the club. It is added Bellingham remains the priority for Liverpool, who will be desperate to offer the 19-year-old Champions League football.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND CLAIM ‘NO OFFERS’ IN FOR BELLINGHAM
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has revealed ‘no offers’ have arrived for Jude Bellingham during the January transfer window.
The Bundesliga side have becoming accustomed to losing key individuals in recent years, having cashed in on the likes of Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho to Premier League clubs, but are aware they find themselves in a position of power when it comes to Bellingham’s future.
Under contract until 2025, Dortmund are well within their rights to demand the highest possible price for the England international and are unlikely to budge on their sky-high valuation. Offering an update on the current state of play as regards Bellingham, Dortmund’s sporting director told Kicker: “I can’t say today if and when that will be the case with Jude, and from a purely sporting point of view I would be stupid to want to give up Jude Bellingham. We’ll talk to him and his parents in due course. There is currently no pressure. Jude wants to concentrate fully on football. And by the way, there are no offers at all.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM COULD ‘PUSH FOR MOVE’ TO LIVERPOOL
According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, Jude Bellingham could push through a move to Liverpool, if that was his preference.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the England international for months and a potential transfer has been tipped for the summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to revitalise the Liverpool midfield.
Sheth told GiveMeSport: “If the will of the player is to say, I don’t want to go [to Real Madrid], I only want to go to Liverpool, for example, I think that changes everything. That’s only because he’s got two years left on his contract, Dortmund would then have a decision to make.
“If he says ‘I’ll stay at Dortmund’ or ‘I’ll go to Liverpool’, it’s one or the other, then Dortmund say ‘brilliant, you’re going to stay.’ But he’s not going to sign a new contract.
“So, by the time he’ll go to Liverpool come the January or summer after, he’ll have 18 months or 12 months left on his contract. And Liverpool will then say, with that amount left on his contract, he’s not worth £120m anymore.
“So, would Dortmund be almost forced into accepting something lower than their valuation if the player decides he only wants to go to one club? I think there’s more to it than just simply saying Dortmund want this much money and if it’s not met, he’s not going, because the will of the player is going to play a part in this.”
REAL ‘HAVE TAKEN NECESSARY STEPS TO SIGN BELLINGHAM’
According to Spanish publication Marca, Real Madrid are determined to sign Jude Bellingham and they believe that they have taken all the necessary steps to complete the signing.
The report claims that Real are keen to maintain their good relationship with Borussia Dortmund, and although a deal has not yet been reached, Bellingham is aware of what Real Madrid can offer in terms of salary and contract length.
BELLINGHAM TOLD WHY HE SHOULD PICK LIVERPOOL
Jude Bellingham has been advised that he should sign for Liverpool this summer as he can ‘go to Real Madrid in five to six years’.
German journalist Christian Falk is reporting that Jurgen Klopp ‘remains the hope of Liverpool’ as he has been trying to ‘convince’ Bellingham into joining the Premier League club.
“The next step should be the Premier League because he can always go to Real Madrid in five or six years, he’s got a lot of time,” Falk wrote for Caught Offside.
“Jurgen Klopp remains the hope of Liverpool, he’s been convincing in terms of his plans for the player but Dortmund, of course, want a lot of money. If they don’t bring the money to the table then Real Madrid will be in the driver’s seat.
“Bellingham would like to play for Liverpool. His father, who is the main character in this potential deal, is also convinced of that but Dortmund has to get the money for this deal. The first target is Bellingham. If he won’t come to Liverpool, they need a player like Kouadio ‘Manu’ Kone.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM SENDS BLUNT MESSAGE
Jude Bellingham has revealed the high demands he places on himself and his team-mates amid links with Liverpool.
The 19-year-old has given an interview whilst with the Dortmund squad at a training camp in Marbella. The midfielder has explained the high standards that he has puts on himself, which shows those who are pursuing his signature what they would be getting if a deal got completed.
“You have to live with the fact that when you look at the table it says that Borussia Dortmund are in sixth [place],” Bellingham told the club’s media.
“There’s no way we should be there in the table given the talent, and no disrespect to the teams above us right now.
“But I feel, in terms of the quality and in terms of player depth in positions, we should be a lot higher than what we are.
“And I’m not afraid to say to the lads and the staff, because that’s where our ambitions should be.
“But it’s about doing instead of talking.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM URGED TO SNUB LIVERPOOL FOR ‘PERFECT’ TRANSFER
Former Arsenal and England defender Sol Campbell has advised teenage sensation Jude Bellingham to snub Liverpool in favour of a “perfect” move to Real Madrid.
“Real Madrid is obviously one of the great historical teams and the way he playing, if he goes in the same direction, he would be perfect for Real Madrid because he is very young,” said the former Arsenal defender.
“He’s way ahead in a lot of things, he just needs the right club and the right manager to guide him in the right direction, that’s all, and the right environment, because sometimes you can go to the wrong environment and so you waste your talent for a few years.
“If he goes to Madrid, he will improve the team, but also the club can keep him in the future. It is a club that knows what to do with young players, to make sure they are going in the right direction and continue to perform.
“And at Real Madrid, if you’re good, you stay a long time. They keep all the really good players and Bellingham is one of the best young players. You just need the right environment to keep your feet on the ground and keep learning.”
He added: “I think he would be perfect for Real Madrid because they will improve. Obviously, at the beginning it would be difficult because he is young and then you know, Real Madrid is a very big club and you have to handle the pressure, but once he gets used to that, he has the right environment around him.”
“He already left Birmingham City for Dortmund. Buying teams are very smart in this business and are making this type of player selection. Now he is almost too good for the club and he has to go, but many players have done this, gone abroad and settled there.
“Yes, some come back. But for me, if I had a team like Real Madrid or one of these big clubs, I wouldn’t need to go back to the Premier League. Yes, there are great clubs in the Premier, but Real Madrid… is historically, you know, the one with the most Champions Leagues.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM MESSAGE SENT AFTER REAL MADRID WISH
Journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft has posted a tweet about Bellingham’s future amid links with Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Bellingham is with the Dortmund squad for their training camp in Marbella, Spain. And a video was tweeted with a supposed Real Madrid fan apparently telling Bellingham ‘see you in Madrid’, via El Chiringuito.
Now Fjortoft has likened the situation with Bellingham to that of Erling Haaland when he was a Dortmund player. “The Bellingham -transfer-saga is the Haaland-script,” Fjortoft tweeted.
“A Dortmund – player to choose between Spain and England -player on training-camp in Spain before decision What will Bellingham’s decision be? Go “right to the top” -choose Real Madrid as a 19 year old or a step home first.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM ‘SIGNS’ TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD BOOK
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has been spotted signing an autograph on a Trent Alexander-Arnold book.
Bellingham struck up a strong friendship with Liverpool duo Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson while away on England World Cup duty in Qatar as Reds fans referred to them both as ‘agent Trent’ and ‘agent Hendo’.
After showcasing his talents in Germany and the Champions League with Dortmund, Bellingham was the star of England’s World Cup campaign as they were knocked out at the quarter-final stage by France.
While away in Mallorca with the Dortmund squad before the Bundesliga season resumes, Bellingham was signing autographs and can be seen on video laughing when handed an Alexander-Arnold book to sign by a supporter.
JUDE BELLINGHAM ‘READY’ TO JOIN REAL MADRID
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has provided an update on the future of Jude Bellingham.
Speaking to ITV Sport, Balague claims that Real Madrid are the favourites to sign Bellingham, but does not specify whether this would be this month or in the summer.
“[Real] are favourites, quite clearly,” Balague told ITV Sport. “Borussia Dortmund have to have a conversation with the player, and with his dad, who is key to the solution of this situation.
“They’ve always been very aware about where to place him, and where to place him next. He is ready for Real Madrid. Real Madrid are ready for him.
“The price is about €100m plus €40m depending on certain bonuses (£125m in total). Real Madrid are saying, ‘yeah, not a problem’. But we know that there are other clubs that want him.
“I do think Real Madrid are favourites, and as Gaizka [Mendieta, fellow pundit and ex-Barcelona star] said, it fits what Real Madrid are doing, and what Jude is doing next. Remember, he’s only 19.”
MANCHESTER UNITED TO ‘THROW KITCHEN SINK’ AT JUDE BELLINGHAM THIS SUMMER
Manchester United will do everything in their power to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to reports.
Luke Edwards of the Daily Telegraph has revealed that Old Trafford officials are desperate to land the English superstar after missing out on the midfielder in 2020.
Speaking to BBC’s Transfer Gossip Daily, “Manchester United are going to throw the kitchen sink at it if they’ve got the money to do it, they will.
“Personally, I’d really like to see him in the Premier League, those people around him would like to see him in the Premier League as well.
“They’re very much in the Bellingham race, let’s get that straight out there, they will definitely be in for Jude Bellingham in the summer.”
MANCHESTER UNITED BOSS ERIK TEN HAG MAKES JUDE BELLINGHAM ADMISSION
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has admitted he would like to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, but admitted the club do not have the funds to make that possible.
The Dutchman splashed the cash in the summer and are now set for a low-key January transfer window while prioritising the signing of a forward following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit.
United were looking to sign Bellingham when he left Birmingham City back in 2020, but the youngster opted to join Dortmund for more game time – a decision that has more than payed off.
With Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid all said to be front runners for the signing, United seem to have been ruled out of making any move for the England star.
Ten Hag was quizzed on TikTok as he was asked by a supporter whether he thinks United will sign Bellingham, to which he replied: “I want to.” The fan followed up by asking if PSG’s Kylian Mbappe was another option, which made another supporter ask: “Can’t you sign both?”
The question made Ten Hag laugh before replying: “You have some pennies for me?”
LIVERPOOL HAVE ‘GOOD CHANCE’ OF SIGNING JUDE BELLINGHAM
Respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio believes Liverpool have a “good chance” of signing Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham in the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old is being tracked by Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City as it seems he is almost certain to leave Germany at the end of the season.
The Italian told Caught Offside: “‘There’s not much in the way of hope that Jude Bellingham will stay at Borussia Dortmund. There isn’t a clause in his current contract allowing him to leave in the summer but they told him that if there’s a big opportunity for him he can leave.
“They have to talk, if he wants to talk. I think they will have to talk. I noted on Twitter a few weeks ago that his father is very keen on the prospect of his boy going to Liverpool.
“I don’t think a January exit will happen, Dortmund doesn’t like to do that. Money will be the main point for Liverpool but don’t forget about Real Madrid, as they have more at the moment. I heard in Liverpool that Jurgen Klopp really wants him.
“We call him a ‘mancatcher’ – if he wants to pursue a person, he can do that but he also has to pursue the club. I heard the club has about £200-250m that they want to spend in the summer, so there’s a good chance they get Bellingham.”
REAL MADRID ‘WON’T ENTER INTO BIDDING WAR’
Noise around Jude Bellingham maybe going to Real Madrid instead of Liverpool is gathering momentum in Spain and perhaps unsurprisingly, newspaper Marca is in the thick of it.
However, the Spanish outlet is today insisting that Los Blancos will rely more on the prestige of representing one of the most famous clubs in Europe rather than trying to outbid other interested parties, such as Liverpool or even Paris Saint-Germain, citing some previous examples.
In a report this morning Marca say: “Endrick and Aurelien Tchouameni are two examples of players who turned down more lucrative offers in order to don the Real Madrid shirt. Los Blancos are aware that they can’t afford to match offers made by richer clubs and they have always avoided entering an auction for players.
“Jude Bellingham has been already informed of how far Real Madrid can go in financial terms and this is the reason why he is leaning towards joining the La Liga Santander giants. For more than a decade, Real Madrid have been clear about the salary limits, which are based on logical economic criteria. Over the last years, no player has been paid more than twelve million euros per season.
“Real Madrid are not going to make an exception with Bellingham. The club’s directors are aware that some players, such as Kylian Mbappe, would opt for the highest contract but they are not willing to seduce a footballer by raising their offer.”
Whether this latest report is an indication that Real accept that they may not be able to land Bellingham in the face of fierce financial competition is open to interpretation at this stage.
REAL MADRID ‘INCREASINGLY CONFIDENT’
Real Madrid are now ‘increasingly confident’ that they will be able to agree a deal to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
That’s according to a report by the Independent, who are reporting that Real are pitching the club as the ‘best place for young talent in Europe’ in a bid to sign the midfielder.
The report goes on to claim that the Spanish champions believe they are ‘leading the chase’ for the 19-year-old, who is valued at a whopping £130 million by Dortmund.
CITY CAN MAKE A BETTER PITCH FOR BELLINGHAM
Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff are reportedly concerned Manchester City will be able to offer a better pitch for Jude Bellingham than Liverpool.
Writing in The Telegraph, Sam Wallace said: “The hope for Liverpool has always been that Bellingham and his family would see Anfield as the best place for his development.
“He will, in any case, be a very wealthy young man whoever he chooses and his career decisions thus far have never prioritised money. The worry for Klopp and his staff is that City can make a better pitch for Bellingham.”
REAL MADRID ‘LEADING’ BELLINGHAM RACE
Real Madrid are understood to be ‘leading’ the race to recruit Jude Bellingham ahead of the summer transfer window.
Liverpool have long been linked with a move for the England international, though will be forced to fend off competition from Manchester City and Madrid to have any hope of landing a deal. A latest report on the situation has claimed Los Blancos believe they are in pole position to reach an agreement for Bellingham, having been made aware the player ‘prefers’ Madrid to Liverpool.
ESPN reporter Rodrigo Faez has stated the Spanish giants are ‘in love’ with the 19-year-old because they view him as a player for both the present and future, but are not prepared to pay more than €100million plus bonuses.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND ‘SHOWDOWN TALKS’ SET FOR THIS WEEK
Borussia Dortmund have ‘summoned’ Jude Bellingham for showdown talks, with the midfielder set to make a decision on his future this week, according to AS.
Liverpool and Real Madrid will be among several sides waiting with bated breath as Bellingham, his family and Dortmund officials come together to make a decision on the 19-year-old’s future, said to be occurring before their January 6 mid-season trip to Marbella.
The midfielder looks set to become the most in-demand player this summer, his performances for England at the World Cup only strengthening the feeling that he will join one of Europe’s elite clubs at the end of the season. The relationship between Bellingham and Dortmund is said to be open and honest, with the Bundesliga club near certain they will lose their star but wanting 100 per cent clarification.
Such is Dortmund’s understanding of the situation, the report adds, that they have already set a price tag of at least €100million plus €40million add-ons. The German outfit are also said to have offered Bellingham a new deal earlier this year, with the reported release clause of €150million hinting at their likely demands.
ROBBIE FOWLER SHARES JUDE BELLINGHAM LIVERPOOL CONCERN
Former Liverpool forward Robbie Fowler has expressed his concerns regarding the potential of Jude Bellingham following a similar path to Steve McManaman by snubbing the Reds in favour of a move to Real Madrid.
McManaman left Anfield in 1999 to sign for Los Blancos, at which point Fowler was a team-mate of the midfielder on Merseyside. Jurgen Klopp’s side are in the race for Bellingham but are facing strong competition from the Spanish giants, who may fancy their chances of getting one over Liverpool again.
Explaining his worry over Bellingham turning down the Reds for Madrid, Fowler said: “The reality is that the irresistible lure of wearing that gleaming all-white kit at the Bernabeu every other week is much more than just another footballing cliche. I saw how my mate Steve McManaman had his head turned by the chance to move to Madrid back in 1999.
“Steve loved playing for Liverpool. They would have given him a contract for life to stay at Anfield. But when Real made their play it was a game-changer. Steve knew it was an offer he couldn’t refuse – and he spent the next four years winning Champions League and La Liga titles playing alongside Galacticos like Ronaldo, Zidane, Figo, Raul and Eto’o.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM’S FATHER ‘WANTS’ HIS SON TO SIGN FOR LIVERPOOL
Recent reports to have emerged on Jude Bellingham have suggested Real Madrid are upping their efforts to sign the 19-year-old, having already beaten the Reds to recruiting Aurelien Tchouameni.
A latest article by Football Insider, however, has suggested Bellingham’s father, Mark, ‘wants’ his son to join the Reds amid rumours over his next destination.
Mark Bellingham, who remains key to transfer talks along with wife Denise is said to be of the mind that Liverpool is the ‘best fit’ in terms compared to other clubs being linked with a move. Aside from Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all understood to be keen on the England international.
JUDE BELLINGHAM WON’T BE EASILY WOOED BY INTERESTED CLUBS – JUST ASK MANCHESTER UNITED
With Jude Bellingham seemingly having his pick of clubs when it comes to deciding who to join, suitors like Liverpool and Manchester City will need to accept that they might not get everything their own way, as Manchester United found out to their cost.
The 19-year-old has been a big hit in German football since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2020 and has now established himself as one of the most sought-after players in Europe.
Only a big-money transfer is going to price him away from the German outfit this summer, but as Bellingham has already proven, money is not his greatest motivation.
As per the Daily Express, when Bellingham left Birmingham City for Dortmund two and a half years ago, he could easily have ended up as a Manchester United player had he wanted – with the club pulling out all the stops to sign him.
Former Birmingham City chief Xuandong Ren claims the Red Devils arranged for Bellingham to meet with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, ex-United hero Eric Cantona and then current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to woo him over a move to Old Trafford.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Ren said: “Ed Woodward (former United managing director) was the one who was most insistent. We sat down and talked about how we could convince Bellingham. But Jude didn’t make any decisions based on money. Manchester United offered twice as much as the rest of the clubs, they even brought him together with Ferguson, Cantona and Solskjaer to convince him.
“They were offering much more salary compared to the rest. Maybe double. He was going to be guaranteed millions in the bank and he didn’t take it. That’s not normal for a player at all. I could only act as Birmingham’s CEO. I could say to him Jude, ‘Manchester United are offering you three times what we are offering, you have to go’.
“And it was a difficult position, because I wanted to respect his decision. At the time he could have gone for free, and we wouldn’t see any money. And our promise was that we would let them make the decision because of the loyalty they showed us.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM ‘TRANSFER MEETING’ SET FOR JANUARY AS LIVERPOOL AND REAL MADRID WATCH ON
Jude Bellingham is set to “sit down” with Borussia Dortmund in January to discuss his future after being heavily linked with a move away from Germany.
The England international is a midfield target for Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp making it clear to FSG he wants the young star as part of his squad.
However, the Reds are likely to face strong competition from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and potentially Premier League rivals for one of the hottest talents in the game.
Reports have surfaced most days claiming to know where Bellingham would rather play his football next season and the latest comes from Goal, who state that the 19-year-old is set to snub Liverpool in favour of a move to Madrid.
However, in a potential boost for the Reds, German football expert Jan Aage Fjortoft has cast doubt on those claims by posting on Twitter that Bellingham and his parents are due to discuss his future with Dortmund in January.
“All reports on what the player or his entourage prefer are speculations,” said Fjortoft. “They will sit down with Dortmund in January. Then a process will be decided.”
REAL MADRID TO ‘ACCELERATE PURSUIT OF JUDE BELLINGHAM’ AMID £60MILLION RELEASE CLAUSE RUMOUR
European Champions Real Madrid plan to accelerate their pursuit of Jude Bellingham according to Spanish sports paper Marca.
Leading their front page with the story on Wednesday, December 28, Marca claims that Los Blancos have made the player’s representatives aware of the their interest, as they look to steal a march on Liverpool as well as Chelsea and Manchester City.
The report also claims that Madrid asked Bellingham not to extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund, something the 19-year-old has so far honoured, but the Spanish giants also accept that they face huge competition for his signature, not least from Liverpool.
The Mail claims that Bellingham could possibly leave Dortmund for what would be a cut-price £60million thanks to a rumoured release clause in his contract that runs until 2025.
BELLINGHAM ‘REMAINS LIVERPOOL’S NUMBER ONE TRANSFER TARGET’
Jude Bellingham remains Liverpool’s number one transfer target despite the club moving quickly on Monday to hijack Manchester United’s deal for attacker Cody Gakpo.
That’s according to a report by the Daily Mail, who are reporting that Bellingham will be free to decide his own future providing his contracted release clause is met, with Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool currently at the forefront of his thinking.
The report also claims that the 19-year-old could leave Germany for a cut-price deal with it believed that his contract at Dortmund contains an unconfirmed £60million release clause.
JURGEN KLOPP SPEAKS OUT ON TRANSFER TARGET
Jurgen Klopp has been talking about Jude Bellingham.
In the embargoed section of his press conference to preview the Boxing Day clash at Aston Villa, the Liverpool boss was asked about the England and Borussia Dortmund midfielder and whether his side’s hopes of signing the 19-year-old could rest on whether they make the Champions League.
Klopp did not hold back…
“I don’t like to talk about money when you talk about a player like him,” said the Reds manager. “Everyone can see he is just exceptional.
“If you mention to someone who has no clue about football or who knows about football and has not watched it for a while ‘how old do you think Jude Bellingham is?’, I don’t think anyone would get even close to his age. They would say 28 or 29 because he plays so mature.
“He played an exceptional World Cup. Absolutely exceptional. With all the things he has and things he can improve, to describe him I would say the things he can do are difficult to learn, and the things he can improve are easy to learn. So, yes, he is a really good player.
“What can I say? I have thought that already for two or three years since he had his breakthrough at Dortmund. Everybody knew already but I have no idea what that means for the money side of it.
“I really think if we all want to do him a favour then we do not talk too much about money. I mean that from an England point of view. Do not throw any hurdles in his development.”

BELLINGHAM ‘PREFERS’ MADRID MOVE
Marca have claimed that Jude Bellingham ‘prefers’ to join Real Madrid rather than move to the Premier League, where Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea would all being willing suitors.
And the report adds that because the ‘operation’ to buy the teenager is so ‘complicated’, Liverpool are getting ‘off the horse in the middle of the race’. That’s not at all.
As the Spanish publication also claim that the Reds have instead turned their eyes to two other midfielders who starred at the World Cup – Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez and Morocco’s Sofyan Amrabat. Given that, the ‘way now seems clear’ for Madrid to sign Bellingham. We’ll see…
STEVEN GERRARD COMPARISON MADE
Michael Owen has praised Jude Bellingham’s versatility and compared the 19-year-old to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
Part of Bellingham’s ever-growing pull is his competency across the the various midfield roles, which was shown during England’s World Cup campaign with his ability to dictate play in the middle of the park before bombing on and contributing in the final third.
In the age of specialisation, where young players hone in on mastering one position – defensive destroyer, box-to-box, creative midfielder, deep-lying playmaker – the Borussia Dortmund and England star can do it all. And Owen has drawn comparisons to fellow ex-Red Steven Gerrard in his ability to cover every position and master every role across the middle of the park.
“We’ve got coaches in academies now telling kids that is their position, almost coaching other things out of their game to fit that rigid position. It’s been happening for the last 20 years,” Owen told the Telegraph.
“Bellingham is different. He can play anywhere in midfield and do everything. In my day, you normally played with a two in midfield and you had to be an all-rounder, but we’ve lost those players because you normally have a midfield three. That requires specific positions because it needs a balance. I played with one of the best all-round midfielders around in Steven Gerrard, and six was not his position. If you asked him to do that, you were chopping off his legs, as it were.
“So many people can do a six job, not many can do everything. Gerrard was too good to not go forward, score and create goals. Jude is the same.”
REAL MADRID ‘ON POLE’ TO WIN BELLINGHAM RACE
Real Madrid have made Jude Bellingham an ‘absolute priority’ in 2023 and are said to be in pole position, according to Marca.
Spanish giants Madrid continue to present the greatest threat regarding Liverpool’s pursuit of the 19-year-old, having previously beaten Jurgen Klopp’s side to the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni last summer. Los Blancos have long been admirers of Bellingham and remain active in rebalancing the ageing midfield of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and the now-departed Casemiro.
Bellingham’s standout performances for England in the World Cup have only intensified interest across Europe, with Madrid said to consider the teenager as ‘the great objective for next season.’ The report from Spain adds that Borussia Dortmund have ‘given priority’ to Madrid over a summer deal.
The Bundesliga club are also said to be wanting a quick resolution on their end, pushing Bellingham to make a decision on whether he wants to leave dortmund in the summer.
FERDINAND URGES BELLINGHAM TO MAKE MANCHESTER UNITED MOVE
Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has pleaded with Jude Bellingham to sign for Manchester United.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder continues to be linked with Liverpool, along with Manchester City and Real Madrid, though Erik ten Hag’s side will also be holding out hope that Bellingham could be Old Trafford-bound.
Liverpool are currently viewed as the frontrunners to complete a deal, though only time will tell regarding whether or not the teenager ends up at Anfield. Ferdinand has no doubt in his mind as to where he wants to see Bellingham continue his footballing journey, urging the 19-year-old to ‘come home’ to United.
“Jude Bellingham has been a phenomenon at the World Cup,” he said on his YouTube channel. “He has announced himself to the world now that he’s a player here to say. He has got so much growth, room for improvement still, but he absolutely influenced games in an England shirt like we’ve never seen a teenager do for England.
“Manchester United, bring him here. Make that your home, Jude. You come and help change shift the culture and take the club to the heights it should be at! He’s been flying the flag abroad, he’s done his bit in Germany, it’s time to come home baby.”
MANCHESTER UNITED OPEN TO SECOND BELLINGHAM MOVE
It should come as no surprise Liverpool are set to face significant competition to secure the services of Jude Bellingham. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has established himself as one of the best players in the world at the age of 19 and has frightening potential that is likely to see him reach new heights in the years to come.
Liverpool are interested in Bellingham, but it was Manchester United who were among the club first pushing to sign the teenager back in 2020 ahead of his switch to Germany. The Red Devils missed out to Dortmund, though the Manchester Evening News have claimed United could come back in for Bellingham.
The above report states senior sources at Old Trafford are of the view the England international could ‘create history’ at the club, with Erik ten Hag telling confidants that if he could sign any player in the world it would be the talented midfielder. Ten Hag is believed to have watched Dortmund’s matches this season to monitor Bellingham’s development amid his likely transfer exit.
LIVERPOOL ‘CONFIDENT’ OF SIGNING JUDE BELLINGHAM
Reports have emerged claiming that Liverpool are ‘confident’ of signing Bellingham in 2023.
According to The Mirror, the Reds are growing in confidence of wrapping up a deal worth at least £100m to sign Bellingham. Although, it is not stated whether this is in the January transfer window or next summer.
The report states that Liverpool are ahead of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Manchester United in the race for the Borussia Dortmund talent. And it has been claimed that this is due to an “unlikely bromance” with Jordan Henderson.
The report states: “Henderson and Bellingham have hit it off despite there being a 13-year difference between them. It’s no secret that the Liverpool captain would have, in their spare time in Qatar, been extolling the virtues of a move to Anfield.
“And it appears Bellingham’s father Mark – who played a big part in his son choosing to leave Birmingham for Dortmund, despite being handed the red carpet treatment by Manchester United – favours the next move being to the red part of Merseyside.”
JUDE BELLINGHAM BACK IN UK TO SAY ‘GOODBYE’
Amid all the speculation surrounding his future, Bellingham returned to England on Friday for a special visit. The midfielder was back in his home country after the Three Lions were knocked out of the World Cup in Qatar last week.
Bellingham made a visit to his old club Birmingham City on Friday, as they played Reading at St Andrew’s in the Championship. The midfielder walked on the pitch prior to kick-off and received a ‘hero’s welcome’ according to reports from the match.
As stated by Birmingham Live, Bellingham was applauded by all four stands in Birmingham as his old club took the opportunity to thank him for the first time since he left to join Dortmund in 2020.
Ahead of his presentation, Bellingham said: “I never got the chance to say goodbye, until tonight! I’m back to finally say thank you.”
It remains to be seen whether he will be back in the UK on a more permanent basis soon.
LIVERPOOL GIVEN NEW JUDE BELLINGHAM TRANSFER VALUATION
Liverpool have been handed a new valuation for Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund after the England star performed brilliantly at the World Cup.
Bellingham is a top target for Jurgen Klopp and the Reds are said to be frontrunners for the 19-year-old in relation to a move in the summer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Bellingham’s price tag has skyrocketed to £130million, but Dortmund are reported to be willing to accept in between £85m and £130m.
His performances at the World Cup is said to have ‘raised the value’ of his potential transfer away from Dortmund. It is not only Liverpool who are interested though, with Real Madrid said to have made Bellingham their ‘main target.
JURGEN KLOPP ‘LEADING THE PURSUIT’ TO ENSURE A DEAL HAPPENS
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has insisted that Liverpool’s ongoing pursuit of Bellingham is being spearheaded by the tireless work of manager Jurgen Klopp.
Known to be rivaling Real Madrid and Manchester City for the 19-year-old’s signature, rumours have begun to intensify around the Reds’ approach for the Borussia Dortmund man this summer.
Speaking exclusively to The Athletic’s YouTube channel in mid December, Ornstein insisted Klopp is the man who is adamant on ensuring a deal does happen in 2023.
He said: ”It’s been widely reported and speculated that Liverpool are leading the race to sign him – and they do want to sign him. Jurgen Klopp has, as we understand it, been leading that pursuit himself, and his power within the Liverpool hierarchy has now increased with the news that Julian Ward, the sporting director, is going to be stepping down at the end of the season.
”And a number of other changes, including him signing a new contract, that has really brought him to the fore; Ward’s predecessor, Michael Edwards, leaving too.
”But the feeling among other clubs who are interested in Bellingham is that while Liverpool may be the early frontrunners, the situation is still open, and that brings the likes of Real Madrid to the fore, maybe Manchester City, too.”
LIVERPOOL ‘CLEAR PATH’ FOR REAL MADRID TO SIGN JUDE BELLINGHAM
It is being reported in Spain that Real Madrid have been given fresh hope to beating Liverpool to the signing of Bellingham. According to Marca, the Reds have ‘cleared a path’ for the La Liga giants to sign the midfielder.
It has been claimed that Liverpool’s rumoured interest in Benfica star Enzo Fernandez means that they will not be able to sign both him and Bellingham. As a result, the report says, that Real Madrid will look to take advantage and move for Bellingham while the Reds are focusing on Fernandez.
But the report does say that Real Madrid’s need for a new midfielder is not as great as Liverpool’s. However, it is stated that Bellingham is definitely a ‘top target’ for the Spanish club next summer.
REAL MADRID MAKE JUDE BELLINGHAM THEIR ‘TOP TARGET’
Reports from Spain have claimed that Real Madrid will be determined to sign Bellingham at the end of the season. According to AS, the La Liga giants have made the midfielder their top target for the summer of 2023.
Madrid already beat Liverpool to the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer, paying Monaco up to £85m for the midfielder. Now the report expects them to do battle yet again in the transfer market.
It has been claimed Madrid will face strong competition from Liverpool for the signing of Bellingham. Despite already adding Tchouameni to their ranks, it is reported that a new midfielder is still a priority for the Spanish club next summer.
CLUBS SEE LIVERPOOL AS ‘FRONT RUNNERS’
According to The Athletic, now that Bellingham’s involvement in the World Cup with England is over, clubs are likely to step up their efforts to sign the player.
It has been claimed that many clubs view Liverpool as the “front-runners” to sign the teenager, but still do not think that the “matter is closed”, and will hope to capitalise on the Reds’ inconsistent first half of the season.
However, the report does go into Dortmund’s position and how they will be keen to keep the player beyond next summer. Bellingham’s current deal expires in 2025, and the German club are reported to want the player to sign a new contract, or at the very least stay for another year.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFICATION NOT A MUST
Failure to qualify for the Champions League next season ‘may not be a dealbreaker’ in Liverpool’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Reds continue to be tipped as frontrunners in the race for Bellingham, due mainly to the amount of work done behind the scenes on courting the player himself. Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold look to have been forming a vital bond with the 19-year-old while the trio are in Qatar for the World Cup.
Despite many positive signs, however, there remains two points of concern for the less optimistic of Liverpool fans: whether the club can afford the 19-year-old’s exorbitant price-tag and what would happen in they fail to secure Champions League football for next season. Jurgen Klopp’s side endured a dismal start to the campaign, but a spike in form prior to the World Cup break sees them sixth. There remains intense competition for what looks to be the two places below Manchester City and Arsenal with as many as five teams battling it out.
And with the calibre of competition for Bellingham’s signature containing the likes of Real Madrid, City and Paris Saint-Germain, one would think that a failure to make the top-four this season would all but end hope of landing the Borussia Dortmund star.
But according to Jacobs, that is not the case due to Liverpool’s ‘legwork’. He tweeted in early December: “Liverpool are frontrunners for Jude Bellingham largely because they have put in a lot of legwork. As previously reported, signing a top young talent isn’t just about the fee but the courting process. #LFC have always been excellent at pitching to players.”
The CBS journalist goes on to say: “Chelsea have an active interest, too, but are not frontrunners. Failure to qualify for #UCL may not be a dealbreaker, though, and that applies to #LFC, too…
“But convincing Bellingham to join without #UCL will be down to a trust in the project, hence why Liverpool are in a strong position since they have laid more groundwork than most.”
LIVERPOOL TOLD WHAT WILL DECIDE TRANSFER
Jude Bellingham’s former Birmingham City coach believes his next career move will be a “football decision” as links to Liverpool continue to intensify.
Mike Dodds, who oversaw Bellingham’s rise from a seven-year-old in the Birmingham academy right through to their first team, says the Liverpool transfer target will make a strategic and long-term decision about what he does at the end of the season.
“When he left Birmingham, he had a lot of choices and he had a lot of decisions [to make] and the decision he made was a footballing decision,” Dodds told Sky Sports News in early December.
“Now whether he decides to stay in Germany or whether he decides to move back to England or whatever club, that decision will be a football decision, it won’t be a financial decision. It won’t be an egotistical decision, if that’s the right phrase to use?
“Whatever decision he makes, it will be calculated, it will be really well thought out. He will think about all the pros and cons and he’ll make the best decision for what is the next stage of his career.”

JORDAN HENDERSON’S TEXT VERDICT ON BELLINGHAM
Darren Bent has revealed the details of a text exchange with Jordan Henderson in which the Liverpool captain sent a glowing reference of Jude Bellingham.
Henderson and Bellingham have been inseparable since jetting off to Qatar for the World Cup, working as well together on the pitch as they get on off it. Henderson scored the opening goal in England’s 3-0 win round-of-16 win against Senegal, tucking home a pinpoint cutback from Bellingham.
The win was the latest in a string of outstanding performances from the 19-year-old, who looks set to play a pivotal role in any English success over the next nine days. And former Sunderland, Aston Villa and England striker Bent has since revealed his conversation with Henderson that reveals just how much Bellingham is valued among is team-mates.

LIVERPOOL ‘VERY, VERY CLOSE’ TO SIGNING
Jude Bellingham’s proposed transfer to Liverpool is “very, very close” according to head of football at SportBild Christian Falk.
The reliable journalist specialises in football news in his homeland of Germany as he delivered information on Liverpool ‘s move for the England star to the Anfield Wrap on Wednesday.
Falk said of the move: “Haaland left us to go to the Premier League, so all eyes now are on Bellingham and Musiala, who is playing at Bayern Munich and not for England, I like to mention that!
“We’re going to lose Bellingham like Haaland next summer, it’s getting closer and closer. You heard the news today, you will have heard that Bellingham and Liverpool are very, very close. There have been many, many talks. His father Mark, mother Denise and agent Mark Bennett are really focused on Liverpool.”

FALK SAYS ‘TRUE’ WITH LIVERPOOL IN POLE POSITION
Christian Falk, head of football at German publication Bild, gave a fresh take on the Bellingham situation on December 7th. And it could offer plenty of encouragement, given he was right in the past about Liverpool’s interest in Thiago – and has once again reached for his green tick.
He tweeted this morning: “TRUE Liverpool are favourites to sign Jude Bellingham (19) from @BVB next Summer. talks are more advanced than with Real Madrid. The Family of Bellingham prefers the Transfer to @LFC @SPORTBILD”.
PSG CHAIRMAN SPEAKS OUT ON BELLINGHAM
Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi is hugely impressed with the “amazing” Jude Bellingham during his first World Cup with England. He gave an interview to Sky which was broadcast on December 6th – and may prompt concern for Liverpool fans.
Al-Khelaifi said: “Amazing player, what a player. Obviously, England are lucky to have him. He’s one of the best players in the tournament. You see how it’s his first World Cup and he’s calm, relaxed and confident, amazing.
“That’s what everyone wants, I’m not going to hide it, but I respect his club. If we want to talk to him, we will talk to the club first.”
LIVERPOOL LEARN BELLINGHAM ‘PRICE TAG’
Borussia Dortmund will demand between €100m and €150million for Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham.
That’s according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who adds Liverpool players are still ‘pushing’ to help win the race for the Dortmund star’s signature.
He tweeted on December 5th: “Update #Bellingham : As revealed in our show Transfer Update a few weeks ago and now confirmed: #MUFC has hardly any chance and is out of the race. Liverpool still in. Klopp and #LFC players still pushing. Dortmund would sell him in summer. Price tag: €100-150m”.
LIVERPOOL ‘AGENTS’ HARD AT WORK
If Jurgen Klopp’s World Cup brief to Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold was to butter up Jude Bellingham, then it is one they are carrying out dutifully. It is a role that is becoming more and more conspicuous, though, the longer England’s campaign continues out in Qatar.
Throughout the Three Lions’ time in Doha so far, Liverpool pair Alexander-Arnold and Henderson’s off-field activities have largely involved the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

BELLINGHAM’S ‘RESPONSE’ TO LIVERPOOL TRANSFER QUESTION
Jordan Henderson and Jude Bellingham were plunged into an awkward position by a reporter on Sunday evening (December 4th) that could provide a hint to the Borussia Dortmund star’s future.
Speaking about Bellingham, who was next to him in the post-match mixed zone, Henderson had said: “I’ve said it many a time. He’s a one off. We need to let him enjoy playing football, he’s only 19. He’s been incredible at this tournament but [also] for a long period of time now with Dortmund. He’s carried it on into this tournament and hopefully he can just carry on going from strength to strength and being a big player for England.”
The journalist followed up his answer by asking: “And Liverpool in the future?”
After an awkward pause, Henderson laughed and walked off. As he made his exit, Bellingham shouted: “You’ve ruined it for all of us! You’ve ruined it man,” as Liverpool’s captain broke into a nervous belly laugh.
WHERE THINGS STAND ON BELLINGHAM TO LIVERPOOL
At the end of November, our Reds man Paul Gorst wrote a long read on the Bellingham situation, which included the following snippets:
Bellingham reportedly earns £2.6m a year at Borussia Dortmund, which equates to a weekly wage of around £50,000. Even in the extravagant world of professional football, it’s not an insignificant sum for someone who won’t turn 20 until June next year, but the England midfielder will certainly be in line for a sizable pay hike, should he decide to seek pastures new before the start of next season.
While the transfer fee itself could yet prove problematic for the Reds, wages shouldn’t be prohibitive. Bellingham’s personal terms, given the player’s age and relative inexperience, are likely to fall into the mid-range at Anfield.
At 20 years of age, Bellingham will have ample opportunity to rise through the ranks of the Anfield pay scale, should he decide that Liverpool is the place for him next year and the youngster has previously stated how financial rewards aren’t the biggest motivating factor for him.
