Kate Middleton’s Latest Rewear Is a Houndstooth Coat, Shop Similar Styles

Whenever you start feeling unoriginal from wearing the same outfit more than once, remember that even princesses and A-listers do it!

Unconvinced? Kate Middleton reworked her charming houndstooth coat for Saturday’s Wales vs England Six Nations rugby match. The last time we saw the princess in the red and white outerwear was in 2018 when she was pregnant with her and Prince William’s youngest child, Prince Louis.

And now, years later, she broke it out again — and styled it nearly just as. See, repeating outfits isn’t all that bad! Just like last time, she added black tights, but this time more opaque, and left her hair down. Instead of a burgundy handbag, she opted for a white tote and added a turtleneck for extra warmth. And just days after sporting a houndstooth coat, Kate Middleton stepped out in a houndstooth skirt on a visit to South Wales.

Kate’s fashions often incorporate elements of the late Princess Diana as well, and it seems houndstooth falls into that category. Princess Diana also wore the classic print in red in the 90s and was spotted wearing it several times.

So, as you can see, houndstooth is still around and looking as chic as ever.

Hailey Bieber and Jennifer Lopez were also spotted wearing the print. In September, Bieber wore a houndstooth blazer as he strolled through LA, and in December, Lopez wore a festive green and white printed coat while Christmas tree shopping.

You can simply throw this Bernardo Houndstooth Wool Blend Coat over your shoulders (and maybe over your sweatpants too) and make it the most part of your outfit. The red color and classic print, even if it’s smaller, will still turn heads from anywhere, and it’s much more approachable than Kate’s, which comes from couture brand Catherine Walker & Co.

The balloon sleeves and black jumbo buttons are other pretty ruffles that make the coat worth the $140 investment — which is usually a lot more expensive but is 50 percent off right now.

Long coats aren’t always in style with the ever-changing seasons, but we know blazers are. We think if Kate were to wear the trend this spring, she might opt for a little something like this Textured Houndstooth Jacket from Zara.

The mother-of-pearl buttons and almost invisible front hook look more formal than the ordinary flat buttons sewn onto most blazers, and the shoulder pads give the power suit (jacket) the “power”. It is available in sizes XS to XL, but tends to run small depending on the brand.

And you can still look stylish and pulled together in a button-down shacket like this one from Amazon or a cropped tweed jacket like this one from Mango.
