Latest Liverpool injury news ahead of Man City with Darwin Nunez concern and Luis Diaz hope
Jurgen Klopp will hope to have some of his injured players available when Liverpool return to action.
The Reds are currently in the middle of their final international break of the season. Next up for Klopp’s players is a Premier League game away to Manchester City on April 1.
Liverpool need to significantly improve their away form to take the three points at the Etihad Stadium. The Reds lost their last league game away to Bournemouth 0-1.

The top four is now the ultimate goal for Liverpool this season and Klopp’s side are currently seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with two games. And with most of his squad still scattered across the globe, Klopp is hoping his players all return fit for the run-in.
Two Liverpool players have already withdrawn from their respective international squads. Darwin Nunez pulled out of the Uruguay squad with an ankle injury, while Cody Gakpo returned home from the Netherlands squad due to illness.
Klopp hopes his two star strikers recover in time before the trip to Man City. He’ll get a better idea of where Nunez and Gakpo stand in terms of fitness when they report back to training next week.
In terms of existing injuries, Luis Diaz is close to returning to first-team training after a long layoff with a knee injury. The Colombia international has been sidelined since October but the club are hoping to have him back in training sometime next week before the trip to Manchester.
Whether he’ll be fit against Man City, however, is another question. It will be a matter for the medical department and backroom staff to assess next week after Diaz is put through his paces.
Calvin Ramsay will be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. However, there remains a question mark for Thiago Alcantara as to when he will return.
Thiago has been out since early February with a hip flexor injury. It remains to be seen when he will actually be back in training, with the latest update coming from his Instagram account earlier this month with a post of himself at the gym.
There are also doubts about Jordan Henderson despite being called up to the England squad. It was later reported that the midfielder has not fully participated in training with the Three Lions after missing Liverpool’s recent games due to illness.
