Available in the latest version of WhatsApp Beta for iOS and Android, the new feature makes it easy for group admins to manage participants in a group chat. When enabled, users will see a message in the group chat advising that new participants must get admin approval before they can join the group, even if they have a group invite link.
The option to approve new group members is very useful for admins who want to control who joins a group, or for public communities with a large number of participants. To find the new setting, just go to the group setting and you will find an option called “Approve New Participants”. Turn it on and you’re good to go.
WhatsApp is currently rolling out the ability to approve new participants in a group chat, so you may have to wait a while for it to be available on your device. Earlier this month, the app introduced a new split-view interface on Android tablets and a call shortcut feature for the Windows version of the app.
