His team no longer looks like the high-pressing, energetic team that often made life difficult for opponents. After a summer of buying talented youngsters with a clear hiring philosophy (newly appointed head of hiring Joe Shields could move to Chelsea), things haven’t quite worked out so far. Saints’ Joe Aribo continues to look like a good signing as the attacking midfielder does his best to put them on the front foot in games. Also new signing Armel Bella-Kotchap, 20, looks like a great addition in central defence. West Ham’s forward duo of Scamacca and Bowen form a good partnership while Michail Antonio is also expertly rotated into the forward line. This West Ham squad looks pretty deep and Paqueta had added real quality in the last third.

Tino Livramento continues to accelerate his recovery from a long-standing knee injury, while Romeo Lavia is set to make a return which will give a huge boost to Southampton’s midfield. West Ham team news, injuries, line-up
The Hammers continue to rotate their line-up between Thursday action in the Europa Conference League and Sunday action in the Premier League. Nayef Aguerd is still out after suffering an ankle injury while Maxwel Cornet is struggling with a calf problem. Antonio is struggling with a cold but sits on the bench.
