Liverpool have the chance to sign a sporting director who could be the perfect option for FSG
Many football fans are obsessed with transfers and the notion that spending huge sums – ‘winning’ the transfer window – is the fast track to stardom. But the list of the most expensive signings of all time shows that a high price does not guarantee success, either at the individual or team level.
Getting the most out of a transfer is extremely difficult, regardless of the cost. It won’t set hearts racing or win hoax wars on social media, but appointing the right person to oversee the transfer process is arguably more important to a club than signing.

Luis Suarez pays tribute to Lucas Leiva with a six-word message during the goal celebration
Luis Suarez dedicated his last goal at Gremio to Lucas Leiva after the former Liverpool midfielder was forced to retire from football.
Lucas announced on Friday that he was finally retiring from the game due to a heart condition, causing the Brazilian to burst into tears as he shared the news at a club press conference.
Lucas signed for his first professional club Gremio last summer and was reunited with former Reds team-mate Suarez in December after the Uruguayan opted to take up a new challenge in Brazil.
News of his retirement drew messages of support from a number of people linked to Liverpool and Suarez showed his respect after being included in the goalscoring charts in Gremios Campeonato Gaúcho [a competition for clubs based in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul] Semi-final first leg v Ypiranga FC.
