In the transfer news, reports in Germany have suggested there will be a nine-man shortlist in the summer, with Jurgen Klopp looking to strengthen in midfield and defence. Among the names are Josko Gvardiol, Youri Tielemans and Jude Bellingham.

Roberto Firmino is set to leave Liverpool in the summer and a return to Brazil has been mooted in his home country.

MLS clubs have their eye on Roberto Firmino

According to Tom Bogert, Roberto Firmino is receiving offers from MLS in the form of LAFC and St Louis City as his contract at Liverpool comes to an end.

The Brazilian will end his Reds chapter in the summer after eight successful years at Anfield.

It was confirmed last week that he will not renew his contract with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Liverpool’s nightmare leaves players facing allegations they’ve never dealt with before

Perhaps the most perverted thing about the whole thing here was that some actually expected things to be different for Liverpool.

After one of their best performances and results of all time against Manchester United last week – a mishap so historic it rewrote the record books – it was believed by many with justifiable belief that the Reds infused great confidence and faith into continuing their game had a timely upswing.

Despite the grueling first few weeks of 2023, a five-game unbeaten run, which peaked last weekend against their bitter arch-rivals, had convinced enough people that this Liverpool team had weathered the worst that these anomalies at Wolves and Brentford and Brighton was an ugly chapter in an unforgettable campaign that should at least have a happier and more welcoming ending. Not so.

United’s 7-0 humiliation was just a mirage. Liverpool are still trapped in this nightmare. Just three wins away from home all season was the stat that rather suggested how things would fare in this tiny corner of the south coast. It’s now eight losses for the season and what’s most galling about that shocking stat is the identity of those who shrugged Jurgen Klopp’s team aside.

Jurgen Klopp admits he is ‘concerned’ about Liverpool after Bournemouth defeat

Jurgen Klopp admits he is very concerned about Liverpool’s away form after suffering their eighth defeat of the season in Bournemouth on Saturday.

Philip Billing’s first-half goal doomed the Reds to defeat at the Vitality as they missed a chance to draw level with Tottenham Hotspur before their own kick-off against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool have lost seven of their eight defeats on the road as Bournemouth joined Brighton, Wolves, Forest, Brentford, Arsenal and Manchester United as teams who have beaten Klopp’s side at home this season.

The Reds have won just one away game since the start of the year – winning 2-0 at Newcastle three weeks ago – and the manager accepts that performances away from Anfield are the reason his side are struggling for a place in the top four .

Possible target for Firmino

A return to Brazil could be on the cards for Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino ahead of his impending departure.

UOL report that Brazilian club Internacional have approached Liverpool and are ‘collecting information with a view to eventually opening talks’.

But the same report has thrown cold water on their hopes of landing the number 9 as Firmino has “other plans” if he leaves the Reds.

Journalist Bruno Andrade says that Firmino is highly regarded in Europe and particularly in England and Germany. But he is also happy about offers from Spain, France and Italy.

Another Brazilian side, Corinthians, have also been linked with the 31-year-old but local reports claim the forward has already received ‘six firm offers’ from teams in Europe.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp defends Gary Lineker over BBC storm

Jurgen Klopp has jumped to the defense of Gary Lineker as episodes of the BBC impartial row continue.

Lineker was told to step down from presenting the match of the day on Friday after the broadcaster took offense at comments by the former England international criticizing the Conservative government’s controversial new asylum policy.

This prompted a host of Lineker’s colleagues to withdraw their services from the BBC in solidarity, resulting in Football Focus and Final Score being removed from Saturday’s schedules.
