Liverpool gave the green light for another £35m raid on Celta Vigo after Stefan Bajcetic

Liverpool and Manchester United have received a boost in their alleged pursuit of Celta Vigo prodigy Gabri Veiga – with the La Liga club’s president admitting they will be forced to sell the midfielder this summer.

Veiga has been linked with moves to Anfield and Old Trafford in recent months as his shares have risen exponentially on his fine form in Spain’s top flight, where he has featured in all Sky Blues games.

But despite the 20-year-old being under contract at the Estadio de Balaidos until summer 2026, Celta’s president Carlos Mourino has accepted that there is little chance of keeping the rising star.

“We don’t want him to leave but I know the offers he’s received and it’s impossible for us to pay that money to keep him at our club,” said Mourino. “The choice is up to the player and we accept that, but the club that wants Gabri has to pay the release clause in June.”
