Despite last week’s 62-38 win over Napoli, Jurgen Klopp’s men looked second best in almost every other facet of the game, a worrying incident that came just days after a dour 0-0 Premier League draw at the rival Everton took place.
The usual high-octane Liverpool attack has suddenly fallen silent, which can’t be good news for the hosts against an Ajax side who are absolutely flying both domestically and in the Champions League.
“Of course we have to show a reaction [to the Napoli loss] Definitely, we know that,” said Klopp. “That doesn’t guarantee a result against Ajax.
“Ajax are actually, I would say, quite the opposite situation, completely different, have won every game so far this season.
“Had another rebuild, really massive rebuild but no surprise, done a really good job again.”
