Madden 23 relocation: How to start the process
The first thing you need to know is that you cannot move for at least a year. Make sure you enjoy playing or at least simulating your way through your first season when you start. You also need to be quick if you want to move your franchise.
You can only decide to move in the first week or two of preseason, so be ready at the start of a save or the start of a new season to get things moving. The last consideration before you start is that you need to be an owner as opposed to a head coach, so make sure you play your career in that role.
However, when all this is done, here is how you can start the process:
- From the main menu, click the Manage Team option.
- Select the Stadium option.
- You should see an option to “Move” here. select it (If for some reason you can’t, skip to the section below.)
- Wait several weeks.
- Around week 5 of the regular season, you will be asked to start the move.
- Select a city you want to move to
- Advance one week

Madden 23 Relocation: Why can’t I start the process?
You may encounter an issue that prevents you from moving. This is not a bug but a feature of the game. By default, you can’t move your team unless your stadium hits a terrible 20 rating. This would usually take years of decay and neglect.
However, you don’t have the time for this as it could take dozens of hours and many, many seasons. Fortunately, there is a workaround that will allow you to remove this limitation. Here’s how:
- From the Franchise screen, tap Options.
- Select “Franchise Settings”.
- Then select “League Settings”
- Under the “Commissioner Settings” scroll down to the “Relocation Settings” option.
- Scroll through the options until you reach “Anyone (can move)”.
If this option is selected, you should be able to move without restrictions.
