Manchester United have grappled with rising absenteeism as talks of a potential takeover continue.

The Red Devils have slipped out of the title race in recent weeks and now need to focus on consolidating their top four position. Erik ten Hag’s first season has taken several steps in the right direction. However, the Dutchman will be without one of his key lieutenants in Casemiro in the coming weeks.

The Brazilian was sent off in the Southampton draw and the club have opted not to appeal his sacking, despite the fact that there are also several victims on the injury list. Off the field, too, the Glazers are weighing their options, with increasing reports suggesting they could seek a cash injection through a minority shareholder.

Here’s the latest from Old Trafford.

Glazier delay takeover process

The Glazers are at a standoff with potential bidders for United after further pushing back their deadline to complete a sale of the club.

The Americans are aiming for either a full takeover or a partial investment in the Red Devils. They have become deeply unpopular with fans, with United last winning the Premier League title a decade ago amid ongoing protests over their ownership.

Two groups have so far gone public with their bids for a full takeover – Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Shiekh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani. The process is now in its second phase, during which presentations and meetings will be held between representatives of the Bidders and Raine Group, who will oversee the process on United’s behalf.

According to NBC Sports, a sale or investment was originally supposed to be confirmed by the end of the first quarter of this year. This deadline has now been postponed.
