Manchester United and Liverpool injury latest and team news ahead of Premier League clash
Manchester United are seen by many as favorites against a side from Liverpool who underperformed far this season in Sunday’s Premier League clash.
The hosts haven’t been beaten in four league games but lost 5-2 at home to Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first leg last month. United have suffered just one league defeat since November and come into the game with a Carabao Cup win and an FA Cup comeback against West Ham.
Erik ten Hag scored a 2-1 win over Liverpool in August in what was his first win as United manager. A number of Reds players will be looking to avenge last year’s 4-0 defeat at Anfield this weekend after performing on that lousy night.

Manchester United team news
Luke Shaw missed the midweek win against West Ham with a leg problem, while Jadon Sancho was sidelined with illness. Ten Hag expects both to be available again on Sunday while Anthony Martial remains sidelined.
Apart from the striker and long-term absentees Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen, all other players are considered fit.
Liverpool team news
There are no new concerns for Liverpool, although a number of key players remain sidelined. Thiago and Joe Gomez are sidelined with problems while Luis Diaz continues his recovery from a long-term injury.
Jurgen Klopp has brought back a number of key players over the past month, including Diogo Jota and Virgil van Dijk. Former United-linked duo Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez are expected to take on the visitors.
Important opposition players
Van Dijk’s return has helped Liverpool’s league form, if not their European exploits. Diogo Jota’s comeback has provided Klopp with an alternative attacking option, while Mohamed Salah is always a threat, having scored seven goals in his last four Premier League games against United.
Rising star Stefan Bajcetic was mobile in midfield, while goalkeeper Alisson’s quality cannot be ignored despite his five-goal slip against Madrid that included an error.
shape
United are on a four-game winning streak in all competitions and unbeaten in 11 games. They have scored two or more goals in each of their last 12 games
Liverpool have won three of their last four league games and drawn the other, but that streak includes the tough defeat to Madrid. They didn’t concede a league goal at home at all in 2023, their last goal coming on December 30 in a 2-1 win over Leicester.
