Manchester United takeover news LIVE Sheikh Jassim latest as financial results explained
Manchester United fans protested outside Old Trafford on Tuesday after growing indecisiveness over the takeover.
The Glazer family put the club up for sale in November last year. Since then, progress has clearly stalled.
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the two frontrunners to take over the club. However, neither of the two men has yet to be named as the preferred bidder.
While both men await news, followers remain uneasy. Yesterday, in 1958, the group organized a peaceful protest outside the Theater of Dreams, urging the Glazers to leave the club immediately.
This protest coincided with the launch of United’s new kit as well as the unveiling of the Reds’ financial results. Elsewhere, reports from the US suggested that Sheikh Yassim was the preferred bidder, but this claim was not supported by other media.

The new shirt pays homage to Manchester and Salford, with a design featuring the Lancashire Rose and the iconic bridge over the River Irwell from the Industrial Revolution era. The traditional red jersey, white shorts and black socks will be worn for the first time in a pre-season friendly against Leeds.

What United bidders should make of the latest financial results
United released their latest financial results yesterday and confirmed their summer transfer plans would not be affected.
The latest results have catapulted the club into a potentially record-breaking year in terms of revenue, but the numbers are not all good news for a potential takeover this summer, according to football finance expert Kieran Maguire. Despite rising commercial and matchday revenue, United still posted an operating loss of £4.7m in the three months to 31 March 2023.

Evra: “Can we stop this circus?”
Former United left-back Patrice Evra has urged the takeover situation at Old Trafford to be ended as soon as possible.
It has been more than seven months since the Glazers confirmed they were open to a sale and despite interest from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim, no progress has yet been made.
Evra told The Times:
“For how many months are we talking about this deal now? Since November. I think he’s important for the fans, for the players and of course for Erik ten Hag. He’s the right man.” [to be manager]. We don’t know who the new owner will be. We are already 20 miles from Manchester City. The question now is: can we stop this circus and find a solution? [have] The owner will come as soon as possible? We need to find it now before the season starts. When the season starts, it’s already too late.
