Manchester United transfer news LIVE Man Utd ‘prepare’ Rasmus Hojlund bid plus pre-season fixture latest

Manchester United will welcome the first players back to Carrington this week as they put their preparation plans into action.

The first friendly against Leeds United in Oslo is just nine days away. Those who did not make international appearances last month are expected to report for testing in the coming days.

Mason Mount will not feature in the first group after playing for England but the 24-year-old is expected to undergo his medical this week after United agreed a £60m transfer fee with Chelsea for his signing. The focus is now on Erik ten Hag’s other priorities, namely a goalkeeper and a number 9.

According to reports from Italy, a €35m offer from the Reds has been rejected by Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund and a second offer is said to be in the pipeline as Ten Hag look to add more goals to their squad.

However, the Dutchman suffered a setback in the pursuit of Justin Bijlow as Feyenoord reportedly insisted his goalkeeper was not for sale.

That could open the door for a return from David De Gea after he was sacked by the club on Friday after his contract expired. The 32-year-old was due to get married in Menorca on Saturday but will return to Manchester for new talks.

United have set the bid limit for Rasmus Hojlund

United would only be willing to pay up to €60m for Rasmus Hojlund.

Fichajes say that Erik ten Hag’s side have set a cap on how much they would be willing to pay for the forward this summer.

Reports from Italy over the weekend suggested a €35m offer had been submitted and quickly rejected by Atalanta.

Liverpool staffers ‘believe’ United ‘overpaid’ for Mount

Liverpool staff reportedly think United paid slightly too much to bring Mason Mount to the club this summer.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp’s side were unwilling to pay the £55million transfer fee paid for Mount as they felt it was an unrealistic estimate.

Liverpool turned to other goals instead and quickly secured a deal to sign Dominik Szoboszlai after they triggered his £60million release clause.

It is believed this is a deal which the club believe offers better value in the market than Mount.

United are “considering” a swap deal as “talks” continue over Rasmus Hojlund’s offer

United are reportedly continuing talks with Atalanta over striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The Daily Mail reiterate the Serie A side could ask as much as £86million for the Denmark international this summer.

It’s thought United could allow a player to go on loan to sweeten the deal, with Amad a likely contender for the role.

Second Hojlund offering

According to The Sun, United are preparing a second offer for Rasmus Hojlund, expected to be worth around £40million.

Erik ten Hag’s side had reportedly turned down a £30m proposal from Atalanta earlier this week, with the Italian side sticking to their valuation of the 20-year-old.

Justin Bijlow has been a long-term target for United but the 25-year-old is categorically ‘not for sale’, according to the Dutch outlet. Voetbal International.

The Athletic reported on Saturday night that contact had been made regarding a potential Bijlow transfer, with Erik ten Hag keen to get a goalkeeper through the doors quickly.

Several other clubs are said to be interested in the Dutchman but Feyenoord insist he is not for sale.
