Manchester United transfer news LIVE takeover latest plus Leeds vs Man Utd highlights and ratings

Manchester United recorded their fifth win in six games on Sunday, with goals from Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho giving the Reds a 2-0 win at Leeds.

Erik ten Hag made four changes compared to Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against the same opponents and United had to absorb pressure from a relentless but wasteful White before landing his own quick two-shot strike in the final 10 minutes.

Rashford’s goal put him eighth in domestic competition for 2023, making him the only top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues for a few hours since the turn of the year – Napoli’s Victor Osimhen quickly leveled later on Sunday night. The 25-year-old’s form was enough for Ten Hag to admit that he is arguably one of the best strikers in the world right now.

As is usual in this most congested season, thoughts quickly turn to the next game when United travel to Spain for Thursday’s Europa League play-off first leg against Barcelona. Ten Hag admitted ahead of Sunday’s game against Leeds that the trio of Anthony Martial, Scott McTominay and Antony were all doubtful and all three were set for late fitness tests.

Outside of matters on the pitch, the start of a new week means fresh takeover talks and formal offers are expected immediately. The Emir of Qatar remains keen on a takeover and reports towards the end of last week suggested that despite the conflict of interest that would accompany Qatari Sports Investment’s ownership of Paris Saint-Germain, UEFA had given the green light for it would give a bud.

Ruben Neves makes a “decision” about the future

Ruben Neves will be listening to offers from across Europe in the summer but would prefer to stay in the Premier League, according to reports in Spain.

Wolves midfielder Neves has attracted a lot of interest, including United who will look to bolster their midfield at depth in the summer.

Paulo Dybala ‘interest’

Manchester United are reportedly interested in a move for Roma and Argentina forward Paulo Dybala as the Reds look to add attacking reinforcements in the summer transfer window.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, United are keen on the 29-year-old forward, who has scored 11 goals and seven assists in 21 games for Jose Mourinho’s side so far this season. He has impressed since joining Roma on a free transfer from Juventus last year.

It’s also believed that Dybala could be available for just £10.7m this summer due to a clause in his contract, with Sport reporting foreign clubs can sign him for as little as £11m while Italian sides can sign him for £17.6m have to pay pounds. Rashford the world’s best?

United manager Erik ten Hag believes Marcus Rashford is now one of the best strikers in Europe.

Rashford nodded in his 21st goal of the season in United’s 2-0 win over Leeds United at Elland Road and his winners have given United a staggering 24 Premier League points.

“He’s definitely one of them,” Ten Hag said of Rashford’s elite status. “He has the skills. I was convinced from the first moment, I was really excited to work with him, I thought I could get more out of him.

“But he has so many skills and potential and there can be more. If he works well he will score more goals because he can score with his left, right and head.”

A great win yesterday

It wasn’t great on Sunday at Elland Road but it was effective as United clinched all three points against Leeds.

Goals from Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho gave Erik ten Hag’s side a 2-0 win in West Yorkshire, a late finish to a solid defensive display from the away side.

Rashford, Luke Shaw and Fred were all brilliant, while the likes of Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho made their claims for more first-team minutes.

That’s now four five wins from six in all competitions and a perfect platform for Thursday and Barcelona.
