Manchester United transfer news LIVE takeover latest plus Man Utd vs Fulham FA Cup build-up

Manchester United will be fully focused on an FA Cup quarter-final game against Fulham on Sunday, with promotion to the Europa League and next-round opponents sorted out.

United scored a 1-0 win in Seville to secure a 5-1 aggregate win over Real Betis, barely touching the ground at Manchester Airport before learning of another trip to southern Spain and a two-legged draw with Sevilla.

But preparations for a fourth Spanish opponent of the season can wait until after the international break with a massive game against Fulham on Sunday at Old Trafford. The Cottagers are in for a big fuss as they attempt to add silverware to an already brilliant season.

Elsewhere, Sir Jim Ratcliffe led a delegation that met with the United hierarchy on Friday to move on to the next phase of the bid process. Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani’s representatives visited Old Trafford on Thursday and he is expected to make a second offer in the coming days.

REPORT: Frankfurt’s stance on Randal Kolo Muani

Eintracht Frankfurt would reportedly ‘not say no’ to the reported €120m offer being considered by United for Randal Kolo Muani.

Reports earlier this week suggested United were preparing a “mega offer” for the France striker as a potential alternative to Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.

Kane has been earmarked as the main target but United are said to be looking at other options should Tottenham refuse to sell. One of those options is said to be Kolo Muani, with a reported bid of €120m.

And BILD’s Christian Falk has revealed that such an offer would almost certainly be accepted by Frankfurt, which could use this summer as an opportunity to make money while Kolo Muani shares are at their highest. The report adds that agents of the 24-year-old are working on a big money move for the summer.

Robin van Persie breaks ties with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag

Robin van Persie has compared Erik ten Hag to a ‘prime minister’ in the way he is taking charge at Manchester United and has spoken about his relationship with his compatriot.

The great United returned to Carrington last month to visit his old team and spend time with Ten Hag. Van Persie retired from football in 2019 and has worked as a coach for Feyenoord ever since. He revealed that Ten Hag has been very open and helpful in sharing his knowledge as he strives to improve in the role.

“I was here for two days a couple of weeks ago,” Van Persie told BT Sport, “and how open he was with me… he wants to share his knowledge and help a young coach.”

Robin van Persie praises two Manchester United players

Robin van Persie called Alejandro Garnacho a “very talented” player as he praised Manchester United’s breakout star of the season.

After helping United to long-awaited FA Youth Cup glory last season, Garnacho was promoted to the first team by Erik ten Hag and the Argentine is living up to his potential. Despite being just 18 years old, he has seen constant changes from the bench and has already scored four goals, three of which were goals.

Unfortunately, Garnacho is now on the sidelines for a break after suffering an ankle ligament injury against Southampton last week, but the Livewire should return in time to feature again this season. Van Persie is very impressed with him.

United confirm dates and times for three April games

Manchester United’s Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest in April has been postponed to accommodate the upcoming Europa League quarter-finals.

Erik ten Hag has already won a tournament this season as the Carabao Cup triumph ended the club’s long wait for a trophy, but the manager is determined to expand the cabinet. United are favorites to win the Europa League and go into the last eight after beating Real Betis 5-1 on aggregate in the last 16.

United learned on Friday morning they will return to Seville to face Sevilla in the quarter-finals, a side they have never beaten and the fourth Spanish side they will face in their European Championship. The first leg will be played at Old Trafford on Thursday 13 April with kick-off at 8pm.

Manchester United have raised fresh concerns over midfield injuries against Fulham

Erik ten Hag has revealed Scott McTominay is an injury problem for Sunday’s FA Cup game against Fulham.

Manchester United have a chance to return to Wembley soon after Carabao Cup triumph but need to get past Fulham and reach the FA Cup semi-finals. Ten Hag has achieved his goal of ending the club’s trophy drought but would like to win as many tournaments as possible in his debut season at Old Trafford.

However, that could prove difficult as United go into the game without several key players. Alejandro Garnacho has been sidelined for several weeks after an ankle ligament injury last weekend and joins Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek on the treatment table.

Here’s what he said.

United and Erik ten Hag have leeway to answer the Casemiro question offensively

Erik ten Hag did his best to underline how well Manchester United have done this season without Casemiro, but his closing comment on the Brazilian’s four-game ban was perhaps the most revealing of all.

“He’s a big influence on our game,” Ten Hag said of his midfielder. Nobody who has spent a lot of time watching United this season will dispute that.

Real Madrid’s £70m signing transformed that team as much as Ten Hag himself. United have searched for a natural defensive midfielder for years and in Casemiro have signed one of the best in the business.

United manager Erik ten Hag has seven undroptables

Early in the first half, Bruno Fernandes approached the corner flag at the Estadio Benito Villamarín and amidst the deafening roar of the locals, Manchester United supporters in the third division could still be heard yelling ‘Bruno, Bruno, Bruno’.

Fernandes lifted his head and applauded them appreciatively. Four days after the Anfield deviation, he was immediately and vociferously supported in the first leg by the Stretford End. Fernandes responded with a goal and an assist in United’s 4-1 win over Betis.

Despite the exaggerated reactions to his lack of leadership against Liverpool, there was never any doubt about Fernandes’ position. On a night when Harry Maguire had the armband buckled around his bicep, United supporters recognized Fernandes as the de facto Leader.

Anthony Martial and Antony Latest

Erik ten Hag has admitted Anthony Martial and Antony are unlikely to play for the Reds against Fulham at the weekend.

United were without attacking duo Martial and Antony for Thursday’s trip to Spain as the Brazilian ace was out due to illness, while the French striker was unfit to perform despite his return to training.

Ten Hag was asked about the two absentees during his press conference outside Fulham on Friday. He indicated that they have doubts for the weekend clash.

“So we need to talk about it [it] and I think Anthony Martial will not be available and Antony dos Santos, we’ll have to see how he develops.”

Erik ten Hag met Sir Jim Ratcliffe on Friday morning when the Manchester-born businessman visited Carrington during talks about his bid to buy the club.

The Ineos boss was at Old Trafford early this morning to speak with United officials, including chief executive Richard Arnold, before heading to Carrington for a tour of the training ground.

Ten Hag was in Carrington before holding his press conference to watch a preview of the Fulham game and he was introduced to Ratcliffe at the training ground.

“I just met them, we shake hands, I’m focused on the game, we’re playing a big game on Sunday, we’re just focused on that, others at the club are looking at potential investors,” Ten Hag said.
