Modernist Design Meets Top-Notch Driving Experience

Earlier this February, Land Rover Singapore unveiled a new addition to its flagship Range Rover series: the third-generation Range Rover Sport. Invites to the media presentation got their first glimpse of the 2.8-ton behemoth, touted as the brand’s most advanced and dynamically capable SUV.

At first glance, the car closely resembles its siblings in the Range Rover family. Its design features and silhouette will be familiar even to those who aren’t Motörhead. However, upon closer inspection, the subtle differences stand out, such as the unobtrusive front grille and the digital LED lighting units with the unmistakable daytime running light signature. These additions are the slimmest Land Rover has fitted to a Range Rover.

Elsewhere, the other parts of the recently designed Range Rover Sport possess strong and well-defined contours, resulting in a back panel displaying the Range Rover badging and LED taillights in one full-width element. To round off the exterior and underline its sporty aesthetic, the car is fitted with a spoiler, the largest ever fitted to a Range Rover.

Aside from its modernist style, where clean, reduced lines are free from excessive elements, another notable feature of the Range Rover Sport is its MLA Flex platform. This makes the SUV 35 percent stiffer than the previous Range Rover and works flawlessly with its array of systems controlled by the Integrated Chassis Control system.

Nick Collins, Executive Director Vehicle Programmes, says: “Land Rover’s groundbreaking flexible MLA architecture and the latest chassis systems combine to deliver the highest level of dynamism we’ve ever seen in the Range Rover Sport. Integrated Chassis Control governs the comprehensive suite of innovations, coordinating everything from the latest variable-volume air suspension system to our Dynamic Response Pro electronic active roll control. The result is the most compelling and exciting Range Rover Sport ever.”

Launched in Singapore, the Range Rover Sport has two variants: P400 Dynamic HSE and P400 Dynamic HSE. And this beautiful vehicle is powered by a partially hybrid 3.0-litre straight-six engine that sends 394 hp and 550 Nm of torque through its eight-speed ZF automatic transmission; It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just eight seconds and has a top speed of 206 km/h.

In line with the global shift to electrification, Range Rover Sport will be able to support a fully electrified powertrain from 2024, while a plug-in variant is expected to be available in the near future.

The Range Rover Sport interior features the hallmark Range Rover Command Driving Position, its latest technologies and the finest materials, ranging from luxuriously grained Windsor or soft semi-aniline leather. Customers are also offered innovative and sustainable material options such as tactile and lightweight Ultrafabrics in Duo Tone color combinations. These textile options extend to the vehicle’s dashboard and door details, which blend seamlessly with the new Moonlight Chrome interior trim.

In addition to the smooth driving experience of Range Rover Sport, the vehicle’s entertainment system also contributes to the overall enjoyment. Developed with Meridian and concealed behind the fabric of the rear doors, its audio speakers are capable of delivering high-fidelity music reproduction while also incorporating active noise-cancelling capabilities.

At the heart of Range Rover Sport is award-winning Pivi Pro infotainment. Users can use it to control everything the car offers, from navigation to media and vehicle settings. In addition, the system learns the habits of its users and intelligently adjusts the onboard experience.

The new Range Rover Sport also features a range of interlinked systems such as Dynamic Response Pro and Dynamic Air Suspension with switchable volume air springs, all controlled by the Integrated Chassis Control system. These systems have been personalized to provide a comfortable and smooth ride and responsive handling that matches the car’s luxurious character.

Prof Gerry McGovern OBE, Chief Creative Officer, Range Rover, spoke more about the new Range Rover Sport, saying: “Our latest Range Rover Sport fully embodies our modernist approach to vehicle design, while reinforcing its undeniably sporty and confident character.”
