With a wide range of fast attacks and a spiked tail, it’s only natural that players would want to take advantage of the awesome looking creature to enhance their weapons and armor.
One of the many materials competent hunters can harvest from Nargacuga is his Nargacuga Mantle. This crafting material is used to upgrade multiple weapons. Although the chances of the cloak appearing in the course of a regular battle are pretty slim, this guide aims to help players maximize their chances of getting one.
Fighting a Nargacuga
Like the many other monster-specific cloaks in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakthe Nargacuga Mantle is found while handling a Master rank Nargacuga. Fighting this beast won’t be too difficult for players, but for those unfamiliar with the fluffy T. rex, keep these tips in mind:
- Players using edged weapons should prioritize tail cutting to reduce range.
- Those using blunt weapons should prioritize the head to deal maximum damage and build up stun.
- Weapons that use thunder and fire elements are Nargacuga’s weakness.
- Weapons that use water, ice, and/or dragon elements are not very effective.
- Flash Bombs and Sonic Bombs should be used when players are feeling overwhelmed or want to stun Nargacuga.

Where to find the Nargacuga Mantle
Killing multiple Nargacuga will eventually spawn a cloak, but players can also obtain one in any of the following ways:
- After unlocking Anomaly Investigations at Master Rank 10 can be a Nargacuga Mantle Bought from Bahari at the Anomaly Research Lab for 150 investigation coins.
- Severing the Nargacuga’s tail and cutting it open has one 5% Chance to yield a coat.
- Catching a Nargacuga has a 4% Chance to get a Nargacuga Mantle in the Quest Complete screen.
- Breaking the Nargacuga’s head during battle has one 3% Chance for it to drop a cloak.
- Killing a Nargacuga has a 2% Chance to get a cloak in the Quest Complete screen.
- Nargacuga has one 1% Chance to drop a cloak during regular combat. Pick up anything that flies away.
