Morocco will once again host the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations football tournament | Atalayar

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has re-appointed Morocco to host the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations Women’s Football Tournament after hosting the 2022 edition.

This year’s edition of the CAN was a great success in terms of sport, organization and stadium attendance, particularly to watch the home team and CAF has once again turned its attention to the Alawite Kingdom to host the next continental women’s soccer competition.

The CAF Executive Committee made the decision for Morocco to host the women’s CAN again during an executive meeting in Tanzania on Tuesday and the news was welcomed in the North African country, which will once again experience the excitement of organizing a sporting competition of this dimension, a challenge that it will face for the second consecutive year.

CAN 2022 was a complete success for Morocco. The Moroccan national team reached the final for the first time in their history, losing 2-1 to South Africa. This was an important milestone for the Atlas Lionesses, who had achieved another unprecedented success with their previous qualification for the semi-finals, which should qualify them for the next Women’s World Cup, to be played in Australia and New Zealand from July 20th to August 20th will be 2023.

The King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, personally called the women’s national football team members to congratulate the players and the coaching staff upon reaching the final. The monarch spoke with Royal Moroccan Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa, coach Reynald Pedros and dedicated emotional words to Ghizlane Chebbak to thank all the players for the great role they played in the tournament.

The Atlas Lionesses games in Rabat were watched by tens of thousands of spectators at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium who, like other games, were also enthusiastic about the game and the competition, which took place entirely in the capital Rabat and Casablanca from July 2nd to 23rd, 2022.
