NASCAR at Dover live race results, updates, highlights from rain-delayed 2023 Wurth 400

After much fanfare – and a day late – Dover will finally host a Cup Series race this year.

The one mile monster has hosted many classic races, but few events have taken place on a Monday like this year’s edition of the Würth 400 does.

Rain washed out qualifying before it could get going on Saturday. On Sunday it reared its ugly head again; a steady downpour meant the show could not go ahead.

So it’s Monday. The day doesn’t matter to Kyle Busch, who was awarded pole Saturday by NASCAR’s formula. The Richard Childress Racing driver is in a good position to secure his third Cup Series win of the season.

But he’s far from the only threat on Monster Mile. From Ross Chastain to Chase Elliott, the field is teeming with talent. All they need is a bit of luck – and four good tires – to reach the checkered flag.

NASCAR at Dover live updates, highlights from the 2023 race

(All times Easter)

3:13 p.m.: Truex takes the lead with 65 laps to go. He has the slight lead over Chastain, who falls behind for the first time since Stage Two.

3:06 p.m.: In stage 3, the pit lane opens up after a hectic lap time. Chastain still upstairs. 72 more laps until a winner is chosen.

2:26 p.m.: Chastain grabs Stage 2 from a Chanter. Maybe his aggressive driving style paid off after all.

2:24 p.m.: Truex had a small disagreement with his team a few turns ago. Seems to have spurred him on; He’s in the top-5 now, charging hard at Hamlin in P4. Looks like he made it on the stage with four laps to go.

2:19 p.m.: Chastain rolls down the track. He’s almost 1.5 seconds ahead of Byron in P2. Further down the field, thanks to Bubba Wallace who improved 17 places from his starting position. He’s on P11.

2:04 p.m.: Byron a little tense so he pits. Chastain forward now.

14:00 clock: Bell and Logano drove to the pit lane. The #20 fell like a stone; went outside of the top 10 after a few laps from the top 5. He’ll hope to fix the problem and put himself back where he expects to be: near the front lines.

1:57 p.m.: Chastain bypasses Blaney for P2. Looks like the No. 12 tried to move outward. However, Aric Almirola, who was in front of him, wanted to let him finish the course. The miscommunication gave Chastain the gap to make his move and get past the Team Penske-Starlet.

1:52 p.m.: It’s been a year of improvement for Corey LaJoie, who is averaging 10 places better than last year. He sits just outside the top 10 and continues to show improvements race after race. Much respect.

1:49 p.m.: Byron shows up on the Monster Mile. He has led 127 laps so far. Another racer worth watching out for? Ty Gibbs, who sits in eighth place. The rookie has been a model of consistency all year. Maybe he could get his first Cup Series win?

1:38 p.m.: Stage two begins and it’s a similar story for Byron, who continues to assert his dominance of the field. Blaney a distant second. Chastain, Bell and Hamlin are also in, rounding out the top five.

1:30 p.m.: Byron takes phase 1! But perhaps even more interesting: Larson reached the minimum speed, but still decided to drive into the garage. Many on social media are speculating (hoping?) that the Hendrick Motorsport star says he’s making the necessary modifications to bypass Chastain and take him out. Could Larson pull a kenseth? Watch this area.

1:13 p.m.: Poole isn’t happy with Chastain, who is in P2 after the restart.

1:09 p.m.: Larson is Dover’s all-time best driver in terms of average finish. He had about as good a chance as anyone of winning that race. However, Chastain didn’t have it. Be interesting to see how car #5 sees Ross’ post-race escapades.

1:03 p.m.: ATTENTION! And that ends Larson’s run for the lead. Ross Chastain comes in on the corner behind Brennan Poole who clears against the wall. He takes Larson with him, whose right front is completely torn.

1:00 pm: Kyle Larson is making some serious ground for the competition. He’s five places better than his position in the last restart. P5 for No. 5.

12:50 p.m.: Byron and Hamlin put on a show as we near the midpoint of Stage 1. There is about a two second difference between second placed Hamlin and third placed Ryan Blaney. Clean air makes a difference.

12:47 p.m.: Byron leads the restart. Busch is also making his way to the top. He is currently on P26.

12:38 p.m.: ATTENTION! Suarez goes hard into Turn 2, picking up Ty Dillon and BJ McLeod in the process. Busch may also have sustained minor damage.

12:31 p.m.: ATTENTION! Gragson flies as we go green again. Hit the wall and slid all the way, kissing the inner medium before coming to a stop. Bad luck for the beginner.

12:26 p.m.: ooooooof. That’s a heavy blow for Busch, who transitions from front to back in the blink of an eye.

12:25 p.m.: Contact between Hendrick Motorsports teammates Berry and William Byron on the pit lane. You don’t see that every day.

12:21 p.m.: On lap 21 the warning flag was raised. Josh Berry and Hamlin have been the biggest jumpers to date, moving up six and five spots, respectively.

12:17 p.m.: Another driver absolutely flashing the field? Denny Hamlin. He’s already in the top 10. Looks like he’s trying to secure a good spot ahead of this competition warning.

12:16 p.m.: Joey Logano is already flying down the track. After crashing in last week’s race, he makes fast work in the early moments of the race. Five places good in the first 11 laps.

12:13 p.m.: And we’re green in Dover! Kyle Busch leads the charge in P1. He is closely followed by Joe Gibbs Racing star Christopher Bell.

12:11 p.m.: Lots of racing fans here in Dover. We’re good for green here. Pretty chilly in Delaware, a chilly 59 degrees. A competition warning is set for Lap 20, so drivers should get a small chance to get a feel for the track after their practice runs and qualifying have been suspended.

12:02 p.m.: Engines are started! We are approximately 10 minutes from the start of the race.

11:45 am: Another look at the line-up for today’s race. The green flag will fall at 12:10 p.m. Austin Dillon is driving his backup car #3, so pay attention to that today. He’s in the rear guard.

11:40 am: Noah Gragson wears whatever this haircut monstrosity is. Not great, from our point of view.
