Nathan Brown contract: Roosters skipper James Tedesco confirms immediate switch for Parramatta enforcer

James Tedesco has all but confirmed the Roosters have landed another signing, with former NSW Origin enforcer Nathan Brown set to join the club in the coming days.

The 30-year-old was on the outside at Parramatta last year, making just 14 appearances last season and not playing in the first two rounds.

Brown will bring nearly 150 games of NRL experience to the Tricolors, who were hit by mass injuries in their forward pack earlier in the season.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Tedesco confirmed his close friend Brown would be traveling to Bondi soon.

“I’ve had a lot of conversations with him,” he said.

“He texted me and I’m not sure I think management reached out to Roosters but I’m close to Browny – he came to my wedding and was quite excited when he texted me and thought , there might be a chance to come here .

“He brings a lot of experience, it strengthens our mids and he’s had quite a tough time over the last year so I think he’s keen to start again and we’re very keen to have him here.

“Jared [Waerea-Hargreaves] texted me last night and he’s dying for him to come in too.”

Trent Robinson was forced to test the depth of his roster earlier in the year, with the likes of Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Matt Lodge and Victor Radley all missing game time.

Angus Crichton and Sitili Tupouniua are also out indefinitely, while utility Connor Watson could miss the entire season with knee problems.

Brown’s arrival at the Roosters could come just days after a clash with arch-rivals South Sydney – a team the Italy international played for earlier in his career.

Tedesco is looking forward to taking on the Bunnies and trying to get revenge for last year’s heated semifinal game.

“It was a weird game – it was something we definitely hadn’t planned,” he said.

“I think that’s something we talked about, we have to adapt when the game isn’t going our way and it definitely wasn’t going our way. Emotions caught up with us and we tried to be a bit individual.

“We took stock after the season. I haven’t checked it out personally because I only played about 20 minutes. It was clear I was going down, a few guys were getting HIAs and sin-bins, we just didn’t connect and we kind of lost our heads.

“There wasn’t much I could do from the sheds but we needed our leaders and experienced people to step in and connect us all – we just didn’t do that, we were too busy.

“We definitely need to get better – Souths are a great footy side and play some good footy, they have a lot of attacking weapons so our defense needs to be active.

“We will look back at last week and what we can improve this week.”
