NBA Preview: February 10 – The Sporting Base
This is the first day after the NBA’s trading deadline. Here are three teams we like tonight.
Phoenix Suns @ Indiana Pacers – 7:00 p.m. ET
The Pacers (25-31) are home to a Suns roster (30-27) that now has Washington, DC’s Kevin Durant on the roster. If Durant can compete alongside Chris Paul and Devin Booker, Phoenix is a legitimate contender to represent the Western Conference at the 2023 NBA Finals for the second time in three years.
My take:
Though Durant is now on the Suns’ roster, he won’t play in Indiana on Friday, a game where the Pacers are a 2.5-point favorite. The Suns will have Booker back, who is struggling with groin problems. Booker’s return on Tuesday, ironically a 116-112 win over the Nets (the Phoenix team Durant came from), had 19 points. Booker’s presence will make all the difference. take phoenix Take the over at 230.5 as the Suns defense might struggle a bit without Durant.

Utah Jazz @ Toronto Raptors – 7:30 p.m. ET
The Raptors (26-30) are home to a Jazz team (25-29) that now has Russell Westbrook on the roster. However, like Durant that night, Westbrook will not be in the lineup for Utah.
My take:
The Jazz minus Westbrook gives Toronto the edge. I like the Raptors here at -7.5. New Raptor center Jakob Pöltl is expected to play, meaning the Raptors’ defense should improve. So take the under at 230.5.

Milwaukee Bucks @ Los Angeles Clippers – 10:30 p.m. ET
The Bucks are nine straight game winners and have a record of 38-17. They’re a game behind the Celtics for first place in the East. The Clippers are fifth in the West with 31 wins and 27 losses.
My take:
The Clippers were very busy as of the deadline. They acquired Bones Hyland from the Denver Nuggets, Mason Plumlee from the Charlotte Hornets, and Eric Gordon from the Houston Rockets. It will take time for these players to agree with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. So take the bucks at +2.5 tonight. Take the under at 226.5. The Clippers are under 226.5 points in four of their last six games.
