The trading season is already underway, kicking off this weekend with a blockbuster deal that got the NBA world into a frenzy.
The Mavericks made a big move to bring in All-Star guard Kyrie Irving from the Nets and paired Luka Doncic with another of the NBA’s most prolific scorers.

Kevin Durant Joins Suns in Blockbuster Trading
Date: February 9th
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Durant and TJ Warren travel to Phoenix for Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, Cam Johnson, four first-round picks and a first-round pick swap.
The four first round picks – 2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029 – are all unprotected.
According to WojnarowskiThe networks are expected to “investigate trading scenarios for crowders” before the 3pm deadline.
John Wall is on his way from Los Angeles – one way or another

This is reported by NBA insider Marc Stein that the Clippers are trying to trade Wall, but if a deal doesn’t go through before the deadline, they’re expected to buy him out.
Wall has been out since mid-January with a stomach injury. He has averaged 11.4 points and 5.2 assists in 34 games this season.
Knicks acquires Josh Hart in trading Trail Blazers
Date: February 8th
Hart is on his way to the Big Apple. The Knicks acquired the 27-year-old wing in a deal with the Trail Blazers. according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
New York sends Cam Reddish, Ryan Arcidiacono, Svi Mykhailiuk and a protected first-round pick to Portland. Per Wojnarowski.
Lakers send Russell Westbrook to Jazz in three-team deal

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Westbrook is on his way to jazz in a blockbuster three-team trade that also includes the Timberwolves.
The Lakers welcome D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt. The Jazz will host Russell Westbrook, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones and the Lakers’ 2027 first-round pick (top-4 protected). The Timberwolves receive Mike Conley Jr., Nickeil Alexander-Walker and three second-round picks.
Westbrook expected to be acquired by Jazz according to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.
Raptors and Spurs discuss scenarios that would bring Jakob Poeltl back to Toronto

The Raptors are expected to be major players at the close, but it appears that they aren’t just acting as sellers.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported on Wednesday that the Raptors and Spurs “continue to discuss trade scenarios that would bring in-demand big man Jakob Poeltl back to Toronto.”
The Raptors selected Poeltl 9th overall in the 2016 NBA draft. Poeltl played two seasons in Toronto before being sent to San Antonio as part of the deal that brought Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors in 2018.
The Lakers are in talks to send Russell Westbrook to Utah in a three-team trade

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Tony Jonesthe Lakers, Jazz and Timberwolves are in talks over a three-team deal that would send Russell Westbrook to Utah.
The Lakers would potentially land D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt, the Jazz would receive Westbrook and draft picks, and the Timberwolves would receive veteran guard Mike Conley Jr.
The Bulls have shown “little interest” in moving Zach LaVine
Date: February 6th
The Bulls were once viewed as a potential seller after a slow start to the season as of deadline, but the team has been improving of late. Chicago has gone 9-6 in the last 15 games, and with players starting to heal, it seems the front office is less likely to trade key pieces at deadline.
According to ESPN’s Jamal Collier, rival executives have said, “The Bulls have shown little interest in a move (LaVine) as of deadline,” although the Knicks, Lakers and Mavericks have all shown interest in the All-Star guard.
Lakers move to ‘Plan B options’ after missing Irving

Although the Lakers have not landed Irving, they are expected to remain active in the trade market. According to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha, the Raptors and Jazz “repeatedly surfaced as back-up options for the Lakers” following the Irving-to-Dallas deal.
He mentioned Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr. as possible options from the Raptors and Mike Conley Jr., Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt as possible options from Utah.
He also mentioned the Hornets, Spurs and Bulls as “three other teams to watch.”
